Actor and comedian Kevin Hart could play Santa Claus in Disney's upcoming Christmas comedy, Dashing Through the Snow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The site claims he's in negotiations for the part, though it's not a done deal yet.

Dashing Through the Snow's story follows a New York City detective who works too much and is having a tough time connecting with his son. Apparently only Kris Kringle himself can help the father believe in the wonder of Christmas to repair the relationship. Hart would surely bring some comedy to the character.

The original story was conceived by Con Air and Gone in Sixty Seconds writer Scott Rosenberg, with a draft from The Late Show With David Letterman writer Rob Burnett. Dashing Through the Snow is said to be tonally similar to feel-good comedies like Liar Liar and Elf.

Disney is expected to launch a search for a director soon. There is no word yet on who would play the father and the son, while a date has not been set for the movie's release.

Dashing Through the Snow will be produced by Will Packer. He worked with Hart on Ride Along and its sequel.

Hart is currently shooting the upcoming Jumanji sequel, which he stars in alongside his Central Intelligence co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
