Just Dance 2014 confirmed

[UPDATE] Ubisoft confirms new dancing game coming to "all platforms" beginning in October 2013.

[UPDATE] Ubisoft announced today during its 2013 E3 briefing that Just Dance 2014 is coming to "all platforms" beginning in October 2013. The game features music from Psy, One Direction, and Nicki Minaj.

The original story follows below

A product page for "Just Dance 2014" has emerged on Xbox.com ahead of Ubisoft's 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing later today.

The page has since been taken down, but not before a NeoGAF forum member was able to capture information and screenshots.

"The latest opus of the Just Dance franchise will make you dance even more and will be once again the ultimate casual rendezvous of the year. This new opus will be even more social as you will be able to connect and dance with players from all over the world and share a unique dancing experience with them," reads a line from the game's description.

Just Dance 2014 is said to include "iconic" pop culture references, as well as new modes. A tracklist was not provided, though one image shows the Ghostbusters, suggesting the familiar song from the movie series may be featured in the game.

Ubisoft's 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing takes place today at 3 p.m. PDT. GameSpot will be on hand at the event.

Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key said last year that Just Dance has surpassed Guitar Hero to become the "greatest party game ever made." At the time, he also said he believes the franchise will exist longer than Guitar Hero because it focuses on current music and not classic tunes, like Guitar Hero.

The most recent entry in the Just Dance series was last year's Just Dance 4, which has shipped 8 million units thus far. The entire series has sold over 25 million copies to date.

They're making too many, that's why they changed it to the year instead of the sequel number.

We've already got dancing Han Solo from Star Wars Kinect, so why not have dancing Ghostbusters (along with Slimer, no less).

Just Dance 2014? So they've like "officially" made this into a yearly franchise? They should call next Assassin's Creed just AC 2013 because we all know there's going to be 14 and 15 etc. coming.

@SnuffDaddyNZ Kinect would enjoy watching you.  Careful they may put a share button on the X1 controller to lol.

@HonorOfGod I'm not expecting anything good from $ony, as $ony already put their best crap back in February.

@Stebsis It's been an annual franchise from the start. Just Dance 1 was released in November 2009, then Just Dance 2 came in October 2010, Just Dance 3 in October 2011 and Just Dance 4 in October 2012. The only difference is that along with sports games, they're naming it 1 year ahead since it will probably launch in 2013, but is called Just Dance 2014. As Breyant says, the format doesn't need much redoing, merely the content, i.e. more of the same.

Breyant
Breyant

@Stebsis In their defense, it makes a lot more sense to release these yearly since the format doesn't need to change, all they need to do is film some people dancing to new songs.

AC ... yeah they're kind of running that into the ground lol

@DawgByte2 @HonorOfGod

Hey they only showed you the controller come on that's like some chick showing you her foot and leaving everything else out of view..  Sure the rest of the chick could be ugly as all get out but heck there's still that curious pondering before hand...

Stebsis
Stebsis

@Hurvl @Stebsis That's why I put officially in quotes, because it has been yearly franchise but most yearly games like sports games always have year at the end, and now JD has it too :)
