Gamers will finally get their hands on Quake II as it ships to over 15,000 retail stores in the US and Canada. As GameSpot News reported on Friday from the premiere party, this is going to be one of the best titles of the year.

Features in the most highly anticipated sequel of the year include: deathmatches for 32 or more players; better AI, new enemies, better character customization from left, right, or center handedness to male or female genders, and the new Quake II graphics engine that sports richer sounds, 16-bit graphics, and real-time lighting effects.

"It's nonstop action in QUAKE II, id's largest game ever," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software. "Players prowl through 39 levels packed with complex missions within a complete and cohesive alien landscape and wreak havoc with an arsenal of weapons that includes the return of the BFG."

So get yourself to the software store and get a copy. You'll love what you're going to find.
