Investor Snapshot: EA, Jamdat come out ahead
EA's stocks outperform Take-Two's, despite TTWO's exclusive pact with MLB.
Electronic Arts (ERTS) and Jamdat Mobile (JMDT) led the pack again today when it came to stock earnings. EA shares climbed 3.93 percent to close $2.43 higher at $64.34, despite news that its sports-game rival, Take-Two Interactive (TTWO), had claimed an exclusive deal with Major League Baseball. TTWO shares saw a much more modest increase of .74 percent, up 26 cents to $35.25.
Jamdat scored a 9.32 percent increase, rising $1.87 to close at $21.93. The mobile-phone content provider has been riding a wave of good news, including deals with Atari and Radio Shack. Atari (ATAR) stock also climbed slightly today, up 4.5 percent, or 5 cents, to $2.32.
Some other game companies saw modest movement on their share prices. Stock in Activision (ATVI) rose 53 cents a share, up 2.4 percent to close at $22.60. Electronics Boutique (ELBO) was up 1.98 percent, climbing 68 cents to $35.09 for the day. Retail rival Gamestop (GME) increased 29 cents a share, up 1.54 percent to $19.09. And Midway (MWY) was up 4.40 percent, or 41 cents a share, to close at $9.73.
