Interplay Gets "In Your Face"

GameSpot and CGW editors to travel US to take on the competition for Interplay's Descent 3.

Interplay is ramping up for Descent's return with the Descent 3 "In Your Face" tour. Gamers will have the rare opportunity to challenge GameSpot's very own Elliott Chin and Greg Kasavin along with Computer Gaming World's George Jones to matches in retail outlets in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago during the week of June 21. Those gamers will also get to match wits against members of the Descent 3 development team who will be on hand to talk shop with potential players about Interplay's latest creation. If you have enough skills to beat the Descent 3 member or one of our expert editors, you'll get to walk away with several prizes and the feeling you get from beating one of the pros.

Contestants will have ten minutes to show their stuff during a one-on-one match with one of the editors or Descent 3 developers. If you have the highest score at the end of the match - you win. All match winners will be entered into a contest, and four talented gamers will win a trip for two to Las Vegas for three days to compete in the 1999 Descent 3 $50,000 Championship - where they'll have a chance to show off. The winner will walk away with $50,000 (as long as he doesn't blow it gambling immediately after). Both GameSpot and Interplay will be giving all sorts of gifts away to contestants as well.

Only two PCs will be set up at each retail location, so you'll have to get there early. But how many times have you said, "I'm good". But how many times have you been good at something and actually made money doing it? If you're interested in competing, take a look at the promotion site to the right to get the times and dates of the competitions.
