Codemasters has announced that its stealth-based first-person shooter IGI 2: Covert Strike has shipped to stores in North America. As the sequel to Project IGI, IGI 2 once again puts players in the role of secret agent David Jones. Aside from offering a full single-player campaign with improved AI, authentic weapons, and a more robust save system, IGI 2 ships with team-based multiplayer modes for up to 16 players online or 32 on a LAN. The multiplayer maps include objective-based missions ranging from hacking satellites to bombing oil refineries. IGI 2 also features a special ballistics engine that models weapon effects like material penetration and damage based on the real-world muzzle velocity and bullet physics of the various weapons.

We'll have a review of IGI 2: Covert Strike soon, but in the meantime, check out our previous coverage of the game.
