Id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead commented briefly this morning on the upcoming lawsuit filed against a number of entertainment companies by the families of several victims of the Columbine High School shooting. After reviewing the lawsuit, Hollenshead found that the case is almost identical to the suit filed in 1999 after the Heath High School shooting in Paducah, Ky. All claims in that case were dismissed by a federal judge last April. He added, "As with the Kentucky litigation, their claims are utterly without merit and we will vigorously defend ourselves."

The Columbine lawsuit was filed last week against 25 entertainment companies, including Id Software, GT Interactive, Activision, Sega, Sony, Atari, Nintendo, and Virgin Interactive. The families of the victims are seeking $5 billion in punitive damages.
