High Velocity Bowling gets Move patch...for PS Plus subs

When it launched the PlayStation Plus service in June, Sony said its $50-per-year subscription fee would give subscribers early access to demos and betas. Now, it appears the premium level will grant early access to patched-in support for the PlayStation Move motion-sensing system--for at least one game, anyway.

This week will see the release of a revamped version of the 2007 first-party game High Velocity Bowling. First released solely via the PlayStation Network, the virtual bowler is now available on a Blu-ray disc that contains the original game and all subsequent DLC, including more than 20 characters and various alleys.

But while the original game was meant to be played with the Sixaxis function of the PS3's default controller, the new version will feature Move support right out of the box. Those who already own digital copies can download a Move patch if--and only if--they are a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony reassured those who belong to the free level of the PlayStation Network that they will receive the High Velocity Bowling Move patch "in the near future."

Whether High Velocity Bowling is an isolated incident or the first of more staggered Move patches to come is unclear, as Sony had not commented as of press time.
