Grand Theft Auto V teased in new religious cult video

Rockstar Games releases new video highlighting fictional Kifflom religion and Epsilon Program viral marketing campaign.

Rockstar Games is ramping up its Grand Theft Auto V teases. The developer posted a new video today for the game related to the Kifflom fictional cult religion that is the focus of the Epsilon Program viral marketing for the open-world sandbox game.

Rockstar wrote," The Goals and the Pledge of Epsilon will continue to be revealed in due time. The Epsilon Program does not exist in just one time or place. We invite you to visit one of our enlightenment centers."

The blog post ends with a hint that "Directions will be provided in one week's time."

The full video, which runs in an endless loop and possibly contains in-game footage, is available on the Rockstar Games Newswire.

GTAV is due out on September 17 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Those who preorder the game through Rockstar's website will receive a Kifflom-branded t-shirt.

i luv how rockstar fleshes out even the minor aspects of their games, links to ingame locations, businesses, and people... just adds to the atmosphere of the final product imo

Got bored 4 seconds in,  but managed to keep the video playing until halfway because I miss 8-bit music...

Anyway, thought baptisms were the cool thing to do in videogames now...

Lame. It was funny 4 years ago R*, let this cow die already. GTA never was funny because of witty remarks. it was funny to run over people. that's it.

Sounds like something Tom Cruise could join ;). Since GTA5 takes place in LA I expect a lot of parody of Holywood phenomena, including weird religions.

@Christiana7 you can put out a burning tire with a but-load of buckets of water. or you can soak a blanket in water and throw it over it. so...WATER-BOARD THOSE MUTHERFUCKERS !!!!!!!!!!!!

@cuddlyfuzzle Just goes to show how boring games have become that gamers would rather discuss religion in gaming forums than playing games...

@G-Man4everno, your brain is to small to comprehend the deeper subtleties in the GTA games. GTA games have always been genius at mocking and mimicking real life social issues. You are  just like the people who don't understand the Metal gear Solid Games. Maybe COD or BF is more your thing?

@ShadowOfKratos Good to see others remember the ever retruning Lazlow, who btw is the second most important person irl to the selection of music and radio shows in gta.

@Korvus85 @cuddlyfuzzle I disagree. it shows how exciting games have become. The Gta games are so amazing for how diverse they are, not just in gameplay, but in  how they integrate social issues into the games, like culture and religion.

@Dredcrumb9 @G-Man4ever wow, NERD raaaaaaaaage !!! kid, it was fun to mock religious drones for 3-4-5 years after an event like 9/11. when the subject is still "hot". it's been over 10 years, no longer funny. now it's just pathetic. it's been done again and again. maybe you are too young, or haven't played enough games to notice this. and online FPS/strategy/sports games require way more dexterity and skill than scripted-difficult-level-selectable-single-player campaigns (any game type).

@Dredcrumb9 @Korvus85 @cuddlyfuzzle Haven't played GTA yet (I know!), MGS is a no-go since I only have a PC, Max Payne liked the first 2 got bored on the third, don't like Hitman, played the crap out of ES4, to the point where I can't even touch Skyrim...I'm pretty much SOL :P

Dredcrumb9

@Korvus85 @Dredcrumb9 @cuddlyfuzzle me neither, the only games that excite me are usually the GTA, Metal Gear Solid, Half-Life, Max Payne, Hitman, Elder Scrolls, and few others that are rarely released. .

korvus

@Dredcrumb9 @Korvus85 @cuddlyfuzzle I haven't been excited by a game in years...keep playing them waiting for one that really gets me going but no luck...glad to see it's not the case for you though :D
