Gorkamorka Details

We take a look at an early version of this combat racing game.

Comments

GameSpot recently had the chance to see an early version of Ripcord Games' Gorkamorka, a combat racing game based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe and the Games Workshop RPG of the same name. We were intrigued by the early test track we played. Each vehicle in Gorkamorka has a driver and a gunner. You can jump between the two roles in-game, with either the AI or another player taking the other seat. If a player wants to follow a specific driving strategy, it's better to take the driver's seat. Of course, if all a player wants to do is attack other cars, then the gunner position would be a better match. To make combat more interesting, there are traps set up around Gorkamorka's tracks, and location-based damage means that specific parts of a car can be targeted and blown off.

As for multiplayer experience, Ripcord plans to include support for up to 16 players. In this mode, the 16 players can drive 16 separate cars, or they can team up and use only eight cars with two people - one driving, the other shooting - per car.

Gorkamorka is currently slated for a winter 2000 release.
