Following a reduced earnings report and CEO departure, Majesco's stock was battered today on Wall Street, losing more than 50 percent of its value on the Nasdaq. However, the clouds gathering over the publisher do have a sliver of a silver lining.

According to a report in today's Hollywood Reporter, Majesco has secured the game rights to the film Ghost Rider. The latest big-budget adaptation of a Marvel comic book, Ghost Rider will be one of Sony Pictures' big summer releases in 2006. Directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil), the horror-action movie will star Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle-mad stuntman who becomes possessed by an avenging demon.

Ghost Rider the game will arrive on the PSP, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 at the same time the film hits theaters next summer. It is being developed by British studio Climax, which has been working with Marvel Enterprises to incorporate assets from the film into the game. However, according to the Reporter, it will not feature the likeness or voice of any of the film's cast, which also includes Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, and Donal Logue.

Majesco Entertainment senior product manager Liz Buckley told the Reporter a few details about Ghost Rider's gameplay. The third-person action game will sport villains from the comic book and the film, including Blackheart and Mephistopheles. It will also feature "such weapons as the hellfire chain- and hellfire shotgun," and, of course, the Ghost Rider's otherworldly chopper, the Hell Cycle (pictured).
