Slitherine Software today announced that its Gates of Troy expansion pack for Spartan has gone gold. Gates of Troy doesn't require a copy of Spartan to play, but strategy gamers with a copy of the original game will have the option to play through it again with all of the expansion's new features implemented. Gates of Troy is scheduled to go on sale at Slitherine's own online store next month, marking the first time that the developer has ventured into the publishing arena.

"This is a big moment for us. We're taking the step from developer up to being a full publisher," said Slitherine's Iain McNeil. "It's been a lot of hard work, but when you see how good Gates of Troy looks and the amazing response we've been getting from our existing publishing partners around the world, you know it's all worthwhile and very exciting!"

Gates of Troy adds a number of new features to Spartan, including six historically accurate campaigns, 17 new heroes, 12 new units, and enhanced diplomatic options. For more information, check out Slitherine's official Gates of Troy Web site.
