Retailer GameStop today announced that it has sold through all of its Nintendo Switch stock, at least its first batch of systems. Preorders opened at GameStop on Friday, January 13, just hours after the big-time Switch presentation where the console's price and release date were announced.

"The fact that this initial allotment has been completely reserved in a matter of a few days demonstrates gamers' desire for this fun and revolutionary gaming system," GameStop merchandising VP Bob Puzon said in a statement.

Puzon added that GameStop is "working closely" with Nintendo to secure more Switch units, though there is no word just yet on when the next batch will be available.

GameStop's statement goes on to say that sixteen Switch games, including Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, are still available to preorder. Some accessories, like extra controllers and a Switch carrying case, are also still in stock. Go to GameStop's website to see all of its Switch items.

The Switch launches on March 3, priced at $300.
