Mortal Kombat veteran Kano is the eighth character to be confirmed for Mortal Kombat X. Check out the newly released trailer above for a look at him in action.

Series creator Ed Boon says Kano is "a bit older, but with all his cybernetic upgrades, he's deadlier than ever." The video shows off a fight between Kano and one of MKX's new characters, D'Vorah, on the Jungle level.

Like the other characters we've seen so far, Kano has access to three different fighting styles called variations; Kano's include Cybernetic (eye-laser and grenade attacks), Commando (better grappling skills), and Cutthroat ("enhanced knife-fighting skills"). All three are briefly seen during the video, and each changes the color of Kano's cybernetic eye and heart. The trailer ends with a preview of his fatality attack.

Boon teased late last month that some kind of MKX reveal would be coming at Gamescom, which takes place this week in Cologne, Germany. He offered no hint about what it would entail at the time, and we don't yet know if the Kano trailer is all developer NetherRealm Studios has in store for the event.

Mortal Kombat X does not yet have a release date, but is expected out in 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. For more, check out our latest preview. A full list of confirmed characters follows below.
