"Absolutely heartbroken over the loss of David Bowie. Another music legend lost," the developer said today in a message posted on Twitter.

Bowie's death comes not longer after Motorhead founder Lemmy Kilmister died at the end of 2015. Harmonix, along with Brutal Legend studio Double Fine and developers on the Ubisoft Rocksmith team, also shared messages of remembrance for Kilmister.

"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer," reads a statement dated January 10 from the official David Bowie Facebook page. "While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."

Bowie's son, Duncan Jones, is a Hollywood figure who gamers may know as the director of this year's much-anticipated fantasy film Warcraft. He shared a wonderful photo of him and his father.

Bowie--born David Jones--turned 69 last Friday, the same day he released his latest album, Blackstar.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima also shared a tweet about Bowie today.
