Game Of Thrones Season 7 Gets New Details

Jim Broadbent says he will play an "old professor character."

Last year, HBO announced that Oscar winner Jim Broadbent will have a "significant" role in Game of Thrones Season 7, which will air later this year on the network. Now, we know more about the role.

He told ScreenCrush (via EW) that he's playing an "old professor character."

"I'm a maester, an archmaester. I'm an old professor character," he explained. Broadbent said he shows up in five of the seven Season 7 episodes. "I did sort of one major scene in each episode," he explained, adding that he is in scenes with actor John Bradley's Sam Tarley.

Broadbent is a veteran British actor who played Horace Slughorn in the Harry Potter film series and won a Best Supporting Oscar for his part in the 2001 movie Iris.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones is rumored to premiere in July.

Only one more season is planned after Season 7. This may not be end the of Game of Thrones altogether, however, as the show's creators have talked about possible spinoffs.
