Both independent game developers and interested industry speakers have opportunities for fame and fortune next March as both the Independent Games Festival (IGF) and the Game Developers Conference (GDC) are seeking submissions for their respective events.

The Independent Games Festival is seeking submissions for its seventh annual indie games competition. Within the event are two separate competitions, the main IGF competitions and the Student Showcase. A variety of honors will be awarded in both Open and Web downloadable categories, with total prizes amounting to more than $40,000. The deadline for the IGF competition is September 1, and the deadline for the Student Showcase is November 14. Official rules and entry forms are available at the IGF Web site.

The Game Developers Conference, which includes the IGF, is also seeking submissions. Interested speakers for the 2005 conference can submit a proposal for a presentation. The topics for proposals are audio, visual, business and legal, design, production, and programming. Guidelines, entry forms, and helpful FAQs are all available at the GDC Web site. The deadline for submissions is July 23.
