Free Assassin’s Creed Pirates update adds hours of content

The latest update adds new missions, ships, and areas.

by

Assassin's Creed Pirates, the mobile spin-off of the recent blockbuster Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, received a second, free major update this week.

Much like the first update released in January, Ubisoft says the second update adds hours of content with a new map area, new campaign mission, two new ships, three secondary missions, and more collectibles. It also introduces a new mission type, Survival, in which you can fish and hunt for food.

Set in the year 1716 during the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean, Assassin's Creed Pirates puts players into the shoes of Alonzo Batilla, a young and ambitious captain on a quest to find La Buse's famed treasure. Players must manage their crew, upgrade their ships, and recruit new crew members as they take part in real-time naval battles.

You can buy Assassin’s Creed Pirates for $5 from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

I'm guessing many came here thinking this was for ACIV? (As I did.)

Even though it did say Pirates in the title not ACIV Black Flag, I still thought it was for that.

What a disappointment :(

This is the part where I admit I liked the pirate stuff WAY more than I anticipated pre-launch.

Last night I harpooned the great white whale. It took forever, and it was AMAZING.

(dammit I thought this was for the main game, but I can see why they did this mobile version)

They take the element that everyone liked about AC IV and then they make a mobile game? Why not make a proper pirate game for PC/consoles?

Ok its bad enough that the title is completely misleading but it doesn't really help when its also listed under PS4 news also.... :(

There're a bunch of good mobile games, but I'm just not into them. Sorry, Ubi.

Gamespot editors need to learn bit more about journalism, they write most times misleading titles and shallow articles

Damn this article! I thought AC4 had hours of free content. Who gives a shit about some piss poor mobile app? I wanted a good reason to revisit AC4 again. Damn!

If Gamespot is gonna start covering mundane mobile game updates then you'd better give us an option to filter these stories out and maybe an option to filter out all esports stories too.

Got excited for a moment, then saw it was just that bloody mobile game. I read the title as "Assassin's Creed" Pirates Update instead of "Assassin's Creed Pirates" Update. Doh!

This game costs money yet it still is pay to win because of microtransactions.

@wexorian Uh.... the game is called Assassin's Creed Pirates and it is adding content.  How were you misled?

@wexorian  I would hardly call making a title that is relevant to what it is you are talking about Journalism. Or difficult.

@grove67  Ha Ha! To bad that you can not even leave the ship to Assassinnate or Headshot. And the battle looked like a TBS game combine with QTE.

It probably would be easier for you if you just go to another site and stay away from GameSpot. :/
