For Honor More of a "Core" Game Than Mass Market, Ubisoft Says

Ubisoft's upcoming swordfighting game For Honor is not necessarily expected to break any sales records for the publisher. Speaking during an earnings call this week, Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez described the game as a "core" title instead of something more mass market like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, or Watch Dogs.

"For Honor is more of a core game, less mass market," Martinez said when asked by an analyst about Ubisoft's shipment forecast for the game.
The game was unveiled at last year's E3, at which time it appeared to be a multiplayer-centric title for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. That might still prove to be the case, but developer Ubisoft Montreal has since clarified that it will have a single-player campaign.
For Honor is one of five big games from Ubisoft due out during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. The others include the just-confirmed Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon Wildlands, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and an unannounced new IP.
