Hungarian game developer Philos Laboratories is currently working on a tactical action-adventure game called Escape from Alcatraz. The game is based loosely on the infamous San Francisco prison, and it is set in an alternative world in which the prison is still in use, rather than being a tourist destination as it is today. Players assume the role of an antigovernment resistance organization. They must free several members of their organization from a variety of different prisons and complete a number of sabotage missions against the government in the process. Each member of the group has a different set of skills. As players free more captives, their group of characters grows and they can accomplish more complicated missions. The final objective of the game is to free the leader of the organization from Alcatraz.

Escape from Alcatraz will feature a combination of tactical action, adventure, and puzzle solving. Players will control a group of up to five characters. The game will run in real-time with a variable speed setting, and it will include day/night cycles and changing weather conditions. In addition, the game will feature several different multiplayer modes. For more information, visit the official Philos Laboratories Web site. Escape from Alcatraz is being published by CDV Software, and it is scheduled for release this fall.
