Activision has released further information on and the first screenshots from Doom for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. A remake of the original game, Doom GBA features 24 levels and eight unique weapons. Additionally, using the Game Boy Advance link cable, two players can play cooperatively and up to four players can compete at once in the game's deathmatch mode.

"Doom redefined gaming on the PC, and now it's back to change the way we think about mobile games," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software. "Doom fans rejoice--if you thought it was nightmarish the first time, imagine having the imps and pinkies in your pocket all the time."

"The debut of Doom heralds a new era of handheld gaming," said Larry Goldberg, executive vice president of Activision Worldwide Studios. "The Doom phenomenon swept the world with incredible gameplay and an unparalleled multiplayer experience. Doom for the Game Boy Advance will allow gamers to engage in mobile mayhem anywhere, anytime."

Doom GBA is being developed by David A. Palmer Productions, with input from id Software. The game will be released in November.
