LogicalVice has recently released the first information pertaining to a Wild West-themed action game named Boomtown. The game, which is currently in development for the PC and Xbox, promises to fuse a number of different genres and utilizes Epic Games' Unreal Warfare engine.

While clearly inspired by the Wild West frontiers of old, Boomtown will also feature elements of mystique and witchcraft, although it's not yet clear exactly how the combination of six-shooters and sorcery will be implemented. Gameplay details are scarce at present, but LogicalVice has stated that that Boomtown will support both single- and multiplayer gameplay, be playable in both first- and third-person, and will feature numerous different modes of play, including last man standing, dueling, siege, and 25-card draw.

"The game's replay value is nearly endless," said Mark Sullivan, project manager at LogicalVice. "With 25 different player possibilities, specialized character attack animations, weapons, skill sets, numerous single- and multiplayer gaming modes, and what are turning out to be amazing high-res environments, Boomtown is sure to please gamers again and again."

Boomtown is currently scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2004. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
