If you're a Blitz fan, prepare to get the fever all over again. Midway is currently putting the finishing touches on Blitz 99, the sequel to its original arcade football title. The game is now on test, and the guys have added a bunch of new features that will make this one just as much of a quarter muncher as the original.

New features include:

Four-player simultaneous play;

Fire. After three successive sacks you are "on fire," meaning that you will never fumble and you can pass further;

Two pages of plays, with some new and some dropped from the original. There's also a way to find two extra pages of plays, with one of those being all the old plays from the first game;

You can create plays now via a special "Create A Play" feature. There's a Nintendo 64 memory cartridge reader on the machine so that you can create plays at home on the N64 version of Blitz, bring them to the arcade, and use them there;

Updated players/rosters;

Four or five different fields. One will be hidden and rumor says it will be in a "weird" place, similar to the rooftop level of NBA Hangtime;

New animation when you make a touchdown;

New tackle animation;

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
