Now that we've seen Fight Night Round 4 in action, the countdown to the game's July release has begun. I can't wait to get my hands on the game and try out the new fighting system but, until then, let's start with the roster. EA Sports has released names and screenshots (check out all of the screens here) for seven of the eight heavyweights that will appear in the game. Here they are:

Name: Mike Tyson
Born: June 30, 1966; Brooklyn, NY
Record (W-L-D-NC): 50-6-0-2 (44 KOs)

Name: Muhammad Ali
Born: January 17, 1942; Louisville, KY
Record (W-L-D-NC): 56-5-0-0 (37 KOs)

Name: George Foreman
Born: January 5, 1949; Marshall, TX
Record (W-L-D-NC): 76-5-0-0 (68 KOs)

Name: Lennox Lewis
Born: September 2, 1965; West Ham, London, England
Record (W-L-D-NC): 41-2-1-0 (32 KOs)

Name: James Tony
Born: August 24, 1968; Grand Rapids, MI
Record (W-L-D-NC): 71-6-3-2 (43 KOs)

Name: Joe Frazier
Born: January 12, 1944; Beaufort, SC
Record (W-L-D-NC): 32-4-1-0 (27 KOs)

Name: Eddie Chambers
Born: March 29, 1982; Pittsburgh, PA
Record (W-L-D-NC): 34-1-0-0 (18 KOs)

What's curious about this list? The lack of active fighters, which might be more of a commentary on the paucity of the heavyweight division these days. Still, with only seven of the eight heavyweights having been named so far, here's my best guess as to who might fill that final slot:

- Wladimir/Vitali Klitschko Wlad is the IBF and WBO heavyweight champion. Vitali is the current WBC heavyweight champion and Wladimir's older brother.

- Larry Holmes Holmes beat everyone, including a past-his-prime Muhammad Ali before retiring for the first time at 36.

- David Tua The Samoan with the mile-high flat top won a bronze medal in the 1992 summer Olympics and is scheduled to fight in 2009.

- Evander Holyfield The only boxer to win the heavyweight title four times, Holyfield still might go down as the dude who's ear was chomped on by Tyson back in 1997. Reliving the Bite Fight might be reason enough to check out the heavyweights in FN4.

- Joe Louis Louis held the heavyweight title for nearly nine years (106 months, a record) and defended his title a record 25 times.

- James "Buster" Douglas The man who ended the Tyson dynasty in Tokyo in 1990. Putting him in the game might be a bit too much of a slap to the face to Iron Mike but it would still be fun.

- Butterbean Just kidding. Seriously. Please. No.

Which boxer do you think will round out the Fight Night Round 4 heavyweight roster?

Not even a minor mention of Sonny Liston? Well whatever, they better have Holyfield as the last fighter. I mean how on earth do you give Tyson his first fight night appearance ever, and not have the guy whose ear he bit?

Thank God! "Big" George Foreman, my all time fav. That being said, I wish they would put in some of the old-timey boxers, like Jack Demsey or Joe Louis, or hell even old old old school boxers like John Sullivan or Gentlemen Jim Corbett, would definitely be pretty cool to see them in a Fight Night game.

I'd have liked to see David Tua. He hasn't been in an game since KOK2001.

In fact, imagine Valuev being in this, would be great, but not gonna happen. Would also love to see Haye, as many have said already.

Not happy with the line-up for heavyweights at all. Fair enough, people probably want to play as Ali and Foreman, but I don't. I did enough of playing with legends in FNR3. I'd much rather see today's heavyweights in glorious 3D, despite how crap the division is. If the 8th heavyweight isn't Klitschko it'll be a joke. I suspect pretty much all the fighters from other divisions will be active fighters, well, fingers crossed anyway. Mind you, I would love to see Calzaghe as a playable character, despite retiring recently.

Dont get me wrong, i really like the FN series and this one looks exellent, HOWEVER, if EA only give us a 'half baked' game therefore expecting us to download additional fighters etc at extra cost, it will be the last EA game i ever buy as im totally sick of devs taking the 'Greed' option of selling additional content which should have been included in the original release and expecting us to pay for it! I absoloutely agree with the posts below regarding the inclusion of fighters like Marciano, calzaghe, mayweather etc.

This game will be awesome, i bet everyone agrees. I'm glad they have included Iron Mike this time round, unlike FNR3. They really should include Marciano as he is up there with the legends sooo.. you no.. GET HIM IN THE GAME. Also, i hope the lighter weight boxers wil include: Money Mayweather, Hatton, Calzaghe etc.

Dont buy the game when it comes out. So many companies are doing that now and taking advantage of desperate gamers. Then a month or more later they release a version with it all in for less than the original. Dont buy it and wait, then get it cheap. If everyone did that then maybe, just maybe companies would switch around and start rewarding the fans who buy early instead of taking advantage of them. Im starting to get disillusioned with the games market at the moment.

Agree totally with Marciano, but where is Bruno, Tommy Cooper, Riddick Bowe?? I think from the list above i would opt for Louis You just know though like the guy said below, they are setting us for DLC, they aint happy with the money from the game they always want more, they can shove that, i will buy the game but DLC can get stuffed

How can they keep making these games and keep the greatest heavyweight ever out of them?!?!? How how how? Rocky Marciano, the only undefeated heavyweight in the world. Fighting back in the day when the fights went past 12 rounds often. "Although he may not rank in the top five boxers of all time in terms of skill, speed or power, Rocky Marciano was tough enough to compensate, and his fans recognized his grit. A sports writer commented that if all the heavyweight champions of all time were locked together in a room, Marciano would be the one to walk out. " Sick they keep missing him out...

I smell something fishy here...... I bet the additional fighters will be DL only as additional content, well, if this is gonna be the case they can shove it!!!

Only 8 heavyweights? And at the moment they are all retired fighters? I'd of hoped for more if I'm totally honest. Hope David Haye is in this game, but surely he would be either a cruiserweight or light heavyweight seen as he hasn't fought that many at heavyweight yet.

I would like to see one of the Russians included but I think it will come down to either Holyfield or Louis as record holders.

Davis Haye would be a good addition but i can understand that he is still in the early part of his career and hasn't yet made 'Legendary' status but i think he will given a few more years to prove himself.

Yooooo fnr4 is gonny be some game but i dont like the way EA overlooks classic fighters from now and the past like rocky marciano he was only in fight night round 2 and antonio taver who was also only in fight night round 2 david haye ,holyfield who was in fnr3 but he wasnt in fnr3 for the playstation :s .i hope in the other weight divisions there is fighters like joe calzage , ricky hatton , amir kahn , nigel ben , cris eubank ect good british fighers peace out :d

i hope that have have not fiddled with the controls as i quite like the way it was set up. Also if it is only heavy weights that that is a little poo. i liked completeing the game on all the different classes. The trouble with EA is that they always try and improve the controls wich some times is bad. Who remembers tiger woods 2007 on xbox 360, not value for money as there where only 7 courses and the putting system was no good. I just hope fight night round 4 stays trueand has not been tampered with to much

@keitha313 & thesovvolf I only said MMA is "swallowing" boxing. You can't dispute that boxings popularity has dropped dramatically in recent years, while MMA's has skyrocketed. Fighter purses have nothing to do with it. I'm an unbelievably huge fan of both, I'm not being biased. I've been a boxing fan for 20 years. Just stating facts. There's hardly ever blockbuster fights in boxing anymore, while MMA has them almost monthly. And the really big names currently in boxing are veterans like the klitschkos, mayweather, hopkins, calzaghe, etc. Very few big name young fighters come to mind. Maybe david haye and chad dawson. Once these veterans retire, boxing will suffer. And keitha313, if you really believe the klitschkos would beat all those classic heavyweights, you're on something. (Lamon brewster AND corrie sanders TKOing wladimir? Are you serious?) Everybody just remember: boxing is the sport of punching. MMA is the sport of fighting.

Wow. Did you guys read the article? "The Fight Night Round 4 HEAVYWEIGHT roster." "7 of the 8 HEAVYWEIGHTS." They have more weight classes. If they didn't have multiple classes they would have just said 7 of the 8 people in the game. Do you really think they would make a game for this long and only have 8 people?

If it ain't Jack Dempsey, it better effin' be Joe Louis. Holyfield? Holmes? Who are you kidding?

I'm sorry but i forgot to thanck EA for puting Mike Tyson in this game, he is my favourite boxer, in my opinion if boxig would take a human form that form would be Mike Tyson. I want to thanck EA for this great game and all sports game that they made, they make the best sports games, football, american football, bascketball, hockey, boxing etc. . Once again this is my opinion and i don't want to disturb anyone. THANCK YOU EA! And, if i made a mistake or more, sorry for my bad english, i don't speak very well english

@ vile I totally agree...no one even cares about the heavy weight division because it sucks, there is a lack of talent. I've watched a couple of Klitschko fights and he isn't even good. he is sluggish and for a big guy you think he'd hit harder than he does. To even mention his name to decent past heavy weights is a joke nevermind LEGENDS. It seems like for now that the middle weight division is where it is at. I hope they put Holyfield in the game. Anybody know the Middle weights in the game yet?

vile104
vile104

keitha you're a complete idiot. The Klitschcko brothers wouldn't stand a chance against any of the legends already listed in this game. I can give you a least a dozen right off the bat that would murderize them; Frazier, Tyson, Holmes, Foreman, Holyfield, Floyd Patterson, Louis, Marciano, Dempsey(unless he actually did cheat by plastering his gloves), Ali, Riddick Bowe, Braddock. There are prolly many legends of lighter weights classes that would've mopped the floor with them(does sugar ray robinson ring the bell). And to refute your little senseless "media hype" argument, if you knew anything about sports coverage and the sports media, then you would know that there is a sort of system of checks and balances when it comes to people unjustly giving someone the title of great. This come in the form of boxing historians, analyst, trainers, scouts, researchers, experts who have been around in boxing long enough to witness in person your Dempsey fights, your Braddock fights, your Patterson fights, Louis v Marciano your Ali v. Frazier, your Ali v Foreman, Tyson v. Holyfield, all the way up to your Klitschkso figths. Put plainly, there are many experts out there that have had the privilege of watching and covering boxing and it's fighters for decades, and are the ones that could and have attested to the greatest of those mentioned above. Put plainly if any boxer were to receive an undeserving accolade or praise, you would eventually have those claims refuted by the experts, amongst whom have been able to watch boxers fight from different eras, giving them the ability and insight to make the comparison. Where do you think the media goes to to affirm the facts, to the experts and historians. Why don't you turn to espn sometime and you would notice that when people talk basketball, they go to the basketball experts, when people talk baseball they go to the baseball experts, when they talk football they go to the football experts, and so on. For some reason i sense that your comment has an undertone of more than just boxing, are you russian or something huh, because to make a retarded comment like that, there must be some kind of bias or partial feelings involved, know what i mean guys.

Heythatsmychair

I pick both Klitschko brothers so can put them both in the ring fight each other. That would be truly interesting to see.

Look, they should add another category called boxing legends. I know all of the guys listed are legends but I'm talking about those boxers before a certain period. Let's say between 1900 to 1960. This way we get the full spectrum of boxing greats. But to tell you the truth I know what they're gonna do. They'll DLC those boxers for a certain amount of MS Points. Why the heck should they include so many boxers on release when they can slowly feed us small packs of punchers for a undisclosed price of course! BUT ... to directly answer the question the one person I would like to see is Joe Louis. He was really the greatest heavyweight boxer of all TIME!

HershalCrusto
HershalCrusto

thesovvolf I definitely understand what your getting at and you make a good point about how long they have been around, and obviously boxing is still a good sport (I'm a fan). But I really have to agree with SoulPsychadelic on basically everything he said, I can't find anyone to talk boxing with or to go in on buying a boxing pay-per view but when there is a UFC pay-per view my house is full. I'm looking forward to both games, but although I'm worried that the UFC game may be a bust, I'm definitely more excited for it because its something different. Fight Night will be good and definitely a buy but it won't be ground breaking.

A_Hayes82

Geez, Idk, how about ROCKY MARCIANO? He is the only undefeated heavyweight champion ever. I know he has been in previous fight nights but don't you need a white heavyweight for all the brothers to beat up on? Or vice versa?

Get David Haye involved! Although they really should have Klitschko in it, if only because hes current champion. It would be cool if you could download boxer packs through live, suppose there's always create a boxer though. Can't wait for this game!

Vitali couldn't even beat Lewis when he gave him two weeks notice of the fight. It was a good fight, but bottom line, Vitaly looked like he'd been hit by a train by the end of it, and even had the bare faced gall to say in the post fight interview (he didn't hit me hard!! And that lennox cut him with headbutts, a blatant lie). What a plank. I hope he's not in the game. The 8th fighter will be evander holyfield. PS. UFC is total rubbish compared to boxing, and the game will be rubbish too, mark my words.
