Fantasy Flight Games has announced that it has acquired the board game rights to the Warcraft series of PC strategy games. The company's current plans include a large, expandable board game that will seek to capture the real-time strategy element of the PC games by making time itself a resource.

"Warcraft is an incredible property with a huge and loyal following," said Christian Petersen, CEO of Fantasy Flight Games. "As a longtime fan of the Warcraft games, I can't state enough how exciting it is to be able to introduce the face-to-face interaction and the tactile elements of board games to this property."

"We're very pleased to be entering into this partnership with Fantasy Flight Games," said Paul Sams, senior vice president of business operations at Blizzard Entertainment. "We look forward to offering computer gamers a new perspective on the scope and depth of Warcraft while also introducing board game players to a new universe."

The Warcraft board game is currently scheduled for release in time for Christmas. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
