Ex-7th Level Duo Becomes Rapture

On Thursday, Rapture Technologies formally announced its presence. The now six-month-old company is the creation of two ex-7th Level executives, Doug Gillespie and Jeff English (who have won over 100 awards for their products).

The duo are best known for their development of the critically acclaimed multimedia engine, TopGun, while at 7th Level. TopGun was the basis for all 7th Level products as well as other products by Microsoft, Bandai, and Disney Interactive.

Richardson, TX-based Rapture has been developing a next-generation media delivery system for other developers. "The creation of this engine is in line with our strategy to provide superior system technology to strategic partners who want to develop CD-ROMs, leverage the Internet or have other technology needs," said Doug Gillespie, president and CEO. "Our system is designed for flexibility and customer growth."

Various projects that the duo have managed and designed include: four Microsoft Barney ActiMates titles, Bandai Tamagotchi CD-ROM and Disney Interactive's Timon and Pumba's Jungle Games, and The Hunchback of Notre DameTopsy Turvy Games.
