Every Xbox One comes with a Kinect 2.0

Microsoft's latest motion control sensor comes with a wide-angle 1080p camera.

by

Microsoft's next-generation Xbox One console will come with the next version of its Kinect motion sensing device, the console maker has confirmed.

The new Kinect comes with a wide-angle 1080p camera that can capture RGB video at 30 frames per second.

Microsoft says the new Kinect can recognise wrists, shoulders, balance, and the transfer of weight in its user. The device is also reportedly able to read a user's heartbeat.

The new Kinect will automatically recognise its users, logging them into a customised home screen and allowing them to navigate through the grab, pan, pinch, and swipe across the games.

I'm a fan of xbox but my only concern is that they put it together to fast trying to keep up with playstation. As far as the Kinects I never really has any use for it before. I can say however is that I'm a little pissed about the Call Of Duty game. I mean really. We've exhausted the Russian saga and need to move on. The only country out there that will give America a fight is China and the inventors act like they're scared to move on it that's sad. The hold thing seems pointless.

Awesome technology? You mean for controlling the TV and such? I'll stick to my universal remote.

You mean the games? I can live without the likes of Kinectanimals and Fable the Journey, plus I just prefer a controller always.

BTW, when I saw Minority Report, I didn't think "I wish I could do that"...I thought "That seems like a lot more exertion than just using a mouse and keyboard"...-=)

I do not care.

I bought a Kinect for my 360 and I felt like I wasted my money. Even the few games that required it I found out I hated having to move my arms and make big bodily motions to do something I could with a controller in 1/10th of the time. I don't like having to talk to my tv either, I found it annoying.

I don't even like the wiimote. I hated having to move around to play a game or shake the controller. I play games to lay back and relax.

After my experience with Kinect, even if this one is upgraded I still do not want to use it. I also don't like it watching and listening to me all the time, even when its off it listens to you.

WHO CARES. I've never even been in contact with a Kinect, and have certainly never been intrigued by the concept of it. What a brilliant market tactic to forcibly increase Kinect sales.  -__-

Actually, what i'm hoping for, more then anything else, is Kinect movie maker.  It should be powerful enough to motion track your whole body.  And with facial recognition, also track your mouth. so track your face. With prerendered enviroments where you can move your character around. Also I would love to speak, and have my in game character actually speak with lipsync.    can you imagine being in bungies destiny, and when you go up to a person and have a conversation, you actually see them talking to you. Would be soooo cool.

I'm not a "casual gamer," but this excites me for a few reasons:

1.) Native Kinect. Everyone has it, which means developers can use it to it's full potential. Over time, as devs really work with the hardware, that opens up some really cool possibilities.

2.) Not everyone's a hardcore gamer. Sometimes I have friends over, and it's nice to be able to jump into something for a bit of light entertainment. Wii Sports was perfect for that. If we can get some fun party games, it has a lot of potential.

3.) Xbox Live Arcade. With it being native, indie-devs can really make use of it. I'll be expecting some cheap, simple games that use thing in fun ways - things that couldn't really be done with Kinect being a seperate peripheral.

Of course, it all depends on the hardware and Microsoft's drivers. I'm not expecting it to be the greatest revolution in gaming, but I think it will be a really great addition for years to come. I'm really happy that they decided to include it out of the box. This product looks really promising to me so far.

Kinect is mandatory for the new xbox.  this is so they can confirm who is playing the game.  don't believe me?  Kinect will recognize the use r and automatically connect to that players profile.  and since games will be tied to specific profiles, if you are not the registered user, it will require payment to play........

I seem to remember a lot of these functions were promised with the previous Kinect as well and that never panned out in the end. Couldn't even sit down while using it.

Nevertheless, they seem to have implemented the one thing I've always said would make owning a Kinect worthwhile. The ability to voice activate any function at any time. The ability to hotjump from a game to Netflix or boot up the dashboard and say "Xbox, play Watchdogs" without having to go to the games tab, access 'my games', and scroll all the way back to Watchdogs just to activate it. Kinect should be able to activate anything from anywhere.

What I'm hoping for this is that you can create your character in a game from a full scan with the kinect.

I don't like cameras pointed at me. Some people don't like things that can be used to record them to be pointed at them. This is pretty much just going to lead to the purchase per person of movies and eventually multiplayer.

Funny to see MS fanboy embrace motion controls gimmick... we all know that kinect was a major success...

I have no problem with this. I enjoyed the original Kinect enough but was frustrated by its limitations. This new Kinect seems to address most of the old one's shortcomings.

Consoles are never going to be as good as gaming PCs at running traditional games. So, I think it's good for consoles to have accessories like Kinect to give me a reason to boot them up.

the Kinect will then become self aware and terminates the unlicensed player who tries to play a game that does not belong to him...

While I am not a big fan I can see the potential in the kinect if they can get to work well enough. If they dont come with xbox developers wont waste money supporting it. Could be better then it seems.

I bought a kinect and used it for like 45 minutes playtime. Such a waste of money.

We don't want your Kinect 2.0 even if its free...

This thing looks bigger then the last one. How much more will they have to charge for XBox One because of this hardware? More importantly, how much less then XBox One will Sony be able to charge for PS4. Sony screwed itself with a high price on PS3.

This Kinect version 2. Everything about Xbox one is fine. But I still will wait a bit to see how this Kinect version 2 pans out. Not so sure it like the idea of the data mining of this kinect V2 is going to work out.

WOW can't tell you how much i don't want kinect maybe it is just me.  On ign there is an article saying that kincet will have to be connected for the xbox one to function i hope this is not true.  This could be the reason I don't get one if you are required to have it connected that would be a bad move microsoft

@charlieboomboom I agree on your stance against the "forced kinect feeding."  The kinect is no more than an enigma to me.  It seems like the kind of technology that is way ahead of its time, literally.  This might explain its lackluster library. They just do not know  what to do with it.

@Slagar No kidding. Honestly, I've seen the potential with it and motion controls ever since Nintendo introduced the wiimote. The only problem is the Tech wasn't good enough to capture one to one motion without enormous lag. Hopefully, the Kinect 2 will be able to do that. I want skyrim where I move around with a controller in one hand and swing a sword with my free other arm. I want a battlefield type game where I run around with one hand, but can throw grenades with my free hand. And by that I mean, throw them in any direction. Behind me, to the side, straight up. and all without moving, just by throwing in the direction I move my arm. like an actual throw.  i'm hoping the tech will be able to pull this kind of stuff off

@DarkReign2552 I'm hoping that the drivers and hardware have matured a bit, myself. That said, the fact that everyone will have it, just rules! It really expand's Kinect's horizons. Even if it only ends up being as good as the previous one, for party games and Xbox Live Arcade, it will make for a great addition.

@95164 This would definitely be an interesting function. I've seen early attempts at features like this with some of the Kinect Apps. A little bit of fine tuning and it could be a viable function for games like Saints Row. If they bring back the Avatar feature, I would like to see more customization with that as well. I don't want to see a couple dozen pre-set hair styles and it picks the best one. I want the ability to shape and resize hair. Give me the Forza photoshop program for my avatar!

@Rayzakk  so lets say it comes out that MS was watching people while playing games or doing whatever. do you know the law suit that will come out from that sort of action. I don't think MS is willing the risk to loose billions in dollars . so please stop with the conspiracy theories

@eva02langley kinect failed since it wasn't precise enough and was an add on. Doesn't seem like this is a problem with Xbox One.

@coatess Not only is it not free but everyone that buys an xbox one will pay for it in the loss of better games in exchange for games that use kinect because they will be telling us how much we want them and push it down our throats.  Well not mine as I think I'll be passing on them this gen.
