ESPN Videogames and publishing partner Global Star Software (a label of Take-Two Interactive) announced today that their hockey title, ESPN NHL 2K5, is now available at retail stores across North America.

In addition to the standard game of hockey, ESPN NHL 2K5 offers a new party mode that features 15 hockey-inspired minigames. The title, available for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, supports online play on both systems and ships at the value price of $19.99.

The release of NHL 2K5 follows the similarly priced Visual Concepts-designed ESPN NFL 2K5, which shocked gamers and retailers alike when Take-Two Interactive and Sega executives announced that the game would be sent to retailers with a sub-$20 price point.
