Epic showing Fortnite at Comic-Con

Design director Cliff Bleszinski, producer Tanya Jessen, and lead artist Pete Ellis to reveal gameplay, more info for new project at San Diego event next month.

Epic Games' new project, Fortnite, was nowhere to be seen at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but the game will have a presence at Comic-Con 2012 next month. The Cary, North Carolina-based studio announced today that it will hold a panel titled "Epic Games Presents: Fortnite Revealed" during the annual Southern California gathering.

Fortnite comes to life next month at Comic-Con.

On Thursday, July 12, at 10:45 a.m. PDT, Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski, producer Tanya Jessen, and lead artist Pete Ellis will convene to offer panel attendees a world premiere of Fortnite gameplay. According to the description of the panel, the developers will also talk about inspirations for the project and how the game is "taking Epic Games in both a classic and all-new direction."

Fortnite was officially announced in December during the 2011 Video Game Awards via a brief teaser trailer. Few details on the project are available, but based on the video, the game will represent a major departure from the art style of the company's past projects like Gears of War and Bulletstorm.

They should just call it Entertainment-Con when it has comics, movies, tv, games, and toys.

It'll be hard for them to convince me that this was a better idea than the next unreal or Unreal Tournament title.

I'm sure this game will be nothing like minecraft. I hope it is a co-op survival game that has a lot of depth.

It seems like they're taking Horde mode from GoW, reskining it and calling it a new game. But, I'm not gonna judge til I see some gameplay.

I know this is just me being petty, but what does Fortnite have to do with comics? I don't like how everything is aping its way into Comic Con.

I mean, you couldn't show it at E3, TGS, or GDS, Epic? You know, where games go to see and hear about games.

@RetroSEAL I agree, the character and art design has me interested. Not sure about the actual game though.

because comicon started as a comic book convention but has grown into a paradise of all thing...well...geeky games, films, TV show and ofc the good old comic

besides its not the only game thats going to be there comicon has a lot of games there

vadicta

@SirNormanislost I think it's more just become a cluster-fuck of people trying to get anything they think might appeal to a nerd noticed. And I don't like it. All these other things have their own conventions. Let comics have theirs.

But I did say I was being petty, anyway :P

@deathblow3 It was a joke dumb dumb, by the way I did not read past your first sentence, but if I need a bed time story I might consider reading it.

@cossidae didn't that game suck and i hate to be the bad news bringer but south park is a rip off of the original tower defense game. and almost all games are rip offs so with that said you must hate all games. all fps are a rip off of wolfestien. all fighter are a rip off of ir kung fu (google it) madden is a rip of of colecovision football. should i go on? nothing is new in gaming just better with great graphics and a.i.

@vadicta i'm all for any and every thing being shown at comic-con games, toys& shows but at least let it be comic related.

@vadicta if it wasent for the additions to comic con then it would have never became as popular as it is and we would all miss out on an extra venue to hear about the latest goodies coming our way. dont get me wrong there is a lot of interest in comics still but its good to have other things too to make your venue more.... brawd.
