EA Adds More Letters With ABC

The world's biggest publisher gets a little bigger with European distributor.

Comments

Electronic Arts announced today that it had acquired ABC.

Not ABC the television network, but rather ABC Software, a company that distributes software in Austria and Switzerland.

ABC now becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of EA; it will continue to distribute EA and other companies' products in those countries.

This isn't the first overseas distributor EA has purchased. Indeed, EA has been pursuing a "commitment to a worldwide direct sales channel expansion" for the past five years. Since 1993, EA has bought other independent distributors - Kingsoft GmbH (Aachen, Germany); DROsoft, S.A. (Madrid, Spain); and Vision Soft (Johannesburg, South Africa).

The terms of EA's purchase of ABC were not disclosed.
