Dragon Age: Inquisition release date announced, new gameplay trailer sets up the story

BioWare's fantasy RPG launching October 7 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

BioWare's upcoming fantasy role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition will launch across Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 7. The studio announced the release date through an all-new gameplay trailer, which you can see above.

The trailer also reveals that if you preorder Dragon Age: Inquisition, you'll receive the "Flames Of The Inquisition" pack, though it's unclear what this includes or which retailers are offering it. October 7 is also the release date for Lords of the Rings game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Alien: Isolation.

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, you play as the Inquisitor, the lone survivor of a cataclysmic event. You, along with your company, must put an end to the demons terrorizing the land of Thedas, according to BioWare.

Not sure how this game will turn out to be. But I like how they talk about strategy and limited resources, reminds me of Baldur's Gate 2. Either way.. sounds like a solid game this time around. Probably the best game to come out in October this year. But I am keeping low expectations just in case.

It worries me that this was supposed to be a gameplay trailer but they seemed to be scared to show much of the gameplay.

I really hate to say this, but it has that kinda DA2 feeling to it. You just get the impression that the combat is dumbed down compared to DA1, and the voice acting is pretty bad, just in this trailer alone.

im not as angry with the world as the rest of the interent so i wont give it all "DA2 was the worst game ever made" crap but two things are bothering me.. 1. will your companions use horses as well or will they just disapear.. 2. why do inquistion soliders look like peasents you should be able to give them a uniform seeing as its all about custonaztion the grey wardens and templars look cool we just look like n**heads

The game looks amazing. Bioware has really stepped it up and implemented positive change from all the criticism and feedback they received. I cannot wait to buy this, binge on it, and then binge on the Witcher 3 next year.

I was thinking, "Oh look! A reason to finally get a PS4 or XB1!" Then, I realized it's coming out for PC too.

This is looking to be the TRUE Dragon Age sequel.  I just did not really enjoy that obvious money grab known as Dragon Age II. How many times can I go through the same map??

The story looks cliché (done to death).  Bethesda did demon (Daedra) portals with Oblivion back in 2006 and many thought it was repetitive and kind of yawn worthy then.

600 kb/s . . . that's pretty terrible.... Upgrade your internet connection. I have a hard time believing you can stream ANYTHING in HD smoothly. Never was a fan of dragon age... Seems so dry, Beautiful graphics as always, but the combat is boring and it is very linear in comparison to other games within the same genre... If a demo is released i will give it a try but i am not going to shell out another 60.00 for this game.

FIX YOUR FUCKING VIDEO STREAMING GAMESPOT. over 600kb/s & it's still not enough to stream this video in HD without it stopping every few seconds? How is it that your site is the ONLY site on the entire web that I can't stream smoothly at over 600kb/s?

The gameplay looks shallow and to action focused again.  Like in that alpha gameplay video, where it still looked totally dumbed down. There is nothing I am excited about. Will be the next Bioware casual RPG.

Ah yes, PC Skyrim mods spoiled me. Now every time I look at a new game my first reaction to it is, "Yep, look at all those low poly models." Might have to mod the living hell out of this before I play it, so many low poly models.

@Tomcat2007  I don't think it was a matter of being scared.. it's more of an gameplay cinematic trailer.. there is already 30 min. of console gameplay on youtube..

@musalala White people live in temperate and/or cold countries. That is just how it is, so it makes sense to me. No, American doesn't count. Only the native-americans apply there.

.. People of different colours, primarily black people.. Live in warm countries, savannas and jungles. Again, that is just how it is.

@Samslayer I still enjoyed it to the end though..I don't usually finish games so it must have done something right. I liked the more focused narrative even if the game had a narrower scope.

Just to clarify, I wasn't knocking CRPG's in general.  They are by far my favorite.  I was knocking the "demon spewing portals" that the hero has to keep closing.  That mechanic has been done in several games because it's easy to program.  Once you've done all the work on the first one you just copy and paste the rest into the game with minor changes.

After the second or third time the player character beats back the minion swarm, dispatches the big boss and seals the portal he starts noticing the repetition.  It gets old.

@cratecruncher By your logic we should stop making RPG or any genre film for that matter.  It's not what the story is about but how you tell it.

@cratecruncher  They must have done it clichéd for a reason... it works.  A lot of popular games and story lines are seriously cliché but maybe because it is cliché that it becomes popular??

@lilflipp @MatchewsTBH mods are not always what they are made out to be.  It's stressful not knowing if your game is going to be stable the next time you start it.  Or if your going to experience some insane glitch you never would have before downloading mods.

@claybiscuit"White people live in temperate and/or cold countries. That is just how it is, so it makes sense to me."

So how does my comment seem pretty stupid if those were his words? Whether White South Africans were descendent or not is not the case. He is stating that they live in places that are cold.

claybiscuit
claybiscuit

@milkdeeznuts @ShinobiMedic  I am pretty sure ShinobiMedic is referring to the native peoples who occupy an area which is why s/he made the comment of "American doesn't count. Only the native-Americans apply there".

Edit - The White South Africans are descendants of different places like Europe and are therefore not natives of South Africa which makes your comment seem pretty stupid tbh :)

@Spacewalker0001, I couldn't agree with you more. I had a lot of fun with DA2; I'm actually planning on running through it again before DA3 is released.

Matchews

@Rhys4Peace @MatchewsDude you have no clue. Skyrim decked out with mods and ENB looks just like a CG movie. Like a cut scene from any of these video games. Like Final Fantasy the movie as a video game. You've obviously not played Skyrim anytime in the past six months with the good mods. No game holds a stick to a properly modded Skyrim. It's down right 10 times better then anything on the market.

You're apparently making your judgement using out dated information.
