Dragon Age: Inquisition -- Here Are 14 More Minutes of Gameplay

BioWare releases second part of extended gameplay demo narrated by creative director Mike Laidlaw.

BioWare today released the second part of a new gameplay demo for upcoming role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition, which launches this fall for consoles and PC. Like yesterday's 16-minute video, today's 14-minute trailer is narrated by creative director Mike Laidlaw.

The video shows off the game's Redcliffe Castle level, where players face off against a series of enemies (but sadly no dragons). We also get a look at Dragon Age: Inquisition's tactical mode, where players can view the world from a top-down perspective and order their followers to attack specific targets with their unique abilities.

The Dragon Age: Inquisition video you see here is from an alpha version of the game, so it's possible that some of the content from this video will be changed for the final version. The game launches in full for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 7.

Everyone of you who buys this and hates it are only fueling the greed.  If you would all just rent it instead of buying it at launch, it would send a strong message.  It doesn't matter if you are a happy or unhappy buyer.  All they care is that you are buyer.  There are thousands of Red Box units all over the country that will have this.  RENT IT FIRST!!  Don't fall into the traps these game companies are placing for us.

doesn't seem like anything new. crap fast-made cheap effects in combat.

Completely agree with the comments about DA2 sucking, i was so disgusted by how poor that game was, but all you haters need to stop for a second and think about this game without having an "unhealthy" bias towards it. DA2 was released under a year after DA:O which is why it was so horrible. EA got on the cash train and thought lets make some money. DA:I has been worked on since then. That's around 4 years they have been working on this. Any gripes you may have i'm sure they have addressed. They WANT people to come back to the franchise, so they haven't cut corners this time (at least it doesn't seem so). They still have the tactical HUD, so if the whole "arcade" style isn't for you, then pump up the difficulty and use that instead. I'm still personally going to wait for reviews myself before i buy, but from what i have seen, they really appear to have made a solid game this time around. Chill people!

Hack and slash, it's no origin obviously. I don't like this Mass Effect in fantasy, give me back my Baldur's Gate 5-6 choices during conversations with lines to pick that I can SEE.  The thing I'm also worried about are the new companies which I... by the looks of it, won't care one bit. They say it's a realistic factor but I haven't seen such ugly faces in one place in my life.

it would be cool if when you are closing the rifts, there is a random chance some mid boss would come out at the last second as you close like, like a random encounter, certainly would take a lot of people with their pants down

All I can say is: Frostbite is an Ubisoft engine. So unless Bioware can salvage that mess, prepare for a massive train wreck on the PC version like all Ubi games.

I'm excited for this. So many great games coming out this year!

Yes more waves combat pls *exactly* what I need.

Oh GREAT :D LOOK AT THAT!,ANOTHER great game that goes visual kei.

Like nefarius said the combat looks like garbage. And the walking and running speed outside of battles reminded me of the drakensang games (the dark eye), people will take 10 years to complete this game only because of it, its like AC cutscene walk speed constantly everywhere.

The combat looks awful. It's chaotic arcade garbage. Thanks Call of Duty! EA is listening to the new generation of shooter kids with no attention span who'd like to try an "RPG".

Can you jump?  Or is this like every bioware game that anchors you to the ground?

well im definitely not buying into the pre order nonsense, dont trust EA not to screw with us and make just another cash cow, il wait for the reviews, as this dorian character, should have a different more Romanesque name and accent, if hes is suppose to be hailing from Tevinter, more in line with other Tevinter characters, i know its a minor gripe, but its really annoys me for some reason

It seems to be better than DA2 (which, in all honesty, isn't difficult), but the more superlatives these corporate guys use to describe their own games, the less I trust them. I sure hope this will be good. Words can't express how much I loved DA:O!

Cutscene - reduce enemy healthbar to zero - cutscene with multiple choice dialog - reduce enemy healthbar to zero - cutscene - repeat, all while watching stiff animations of in babyoil covered characters with dead eyes expression, no challenging combat, bad dialogue, "badass" party members that simply die in cutscenes, etc and Origin DRM to top it all off.

I bet EA is going to be milking it real hard with preorder nonsense and DLC too.

No interest. Next !

gross hack & slash your way to victory. Add in the "tactical mode" to appease DA:O fans with absolutely no drawbacks if you want to use or not.

I see many games have jumped on the rift bandwagon as a "new" idea to add while the first to introduce it is quite buried. It just adds to the sense of deja vu, but I hope it'll be better than the second installment

I hope this game is more like Dragon Age 2 than Dragon Age Origins. Dragon Age 2 was very fun.

I never watch these things, i never want to watch I always want to be the one playing. And even these gameplay previews is too much of spoilers for me.

Damn why so much negativity in the comments everywhere on this website??

so boring zzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm fairly convinced that this game will still be worse than DA:O, at least because the main character still has a voice. You just don't get the same amount of options that way, and I liked seeing the entirety of what I was going to say, rather than a preview.

The tactical pause also looks very consolized still. I want to be able to zoom out to see most of the room at once, not scroll around the room slowly trying to see what's there. This game could get back to the DA:O days a great deal just by going back to the zoomed out top-down perspective, because it seems like there's a problem with your character being in front of what you're trying to look at.

Hopefully the PC version of this will play very differently.

Deja vu ...this reminds me of the Dragon age 2 build up before release hype hype hype...promises promises promise only to be disappointed

Looks impressive enough but the voice acting for the player character is pretty bland.

Good or bad...anyway i have to buy this and complete the story...as origins was awesome, i hope this will also be...but sure not going to buy this on launch until i see something really amazing which was lacking in this video..
Till then its on my to buy list but not on priority like witcher 3..

@satoujin25 LOLWUT ? frostbite is from DICE, the makers of battlefield and mirrors edge, THEY DEVELOPED this engine, and no ubisoft game has used it so far, and i doubt they ever will.

@DLuf  I only saw waves on the boss, and that's just because it's a multi-phase boss fight.  The normal mobs don't seem to summon reinforcements on every fight like in DA2, and I'm more than grateful for that.

Gwarpup

Ah good NM I saw at 16:10 you can jump.  So happy to real freedom of movement being brought to a bioware game at last.

Gwarpup

@bloody-hell Demo Play is always super easy.  They even said in one of the playthroughs that their chars were super high level so that is why there's no challenge.  Anytime they are showing a game off they don't want to have to stop the action to reload like in those crap Star Citizen videos.  Stiff Animations compared to what?  All games have pretty stiff animations if your talking about not being life like.  It looks just as good as Witcher 3.

Bhemont

@jophy Sounds like xcom: bureau, in other words, boring.  The boss mechanics in DA2 DLCs was actually pretty awesome, hoping for something like that here, otherwise it's a pass lol

Stiler

@RetryAgain At least you hav ethe choice of voice between two different voices for each gender. There's a British accented voice and an American accented voice (so 4 total including male/female).

While I loved all the options in DA:O it seemed very out of place that everyone talked but your hero just stood around, never saying a word.

Plus look at MAss Effect, that game had plenty of cohices an doptions throughout it, more then even some older non-speaking rpgs.

DraconisRex

@musalala Well, in it's favor, in the two game-play trailers I've seen it already has more important story elements and areas than DA2....

Total_mischief
Total_mischief

@musalala How was there any hype built up before Dragon Age 2 ? It was obvious it wasn't going to live up to DA:O with the development time and the few screenshots we saw. We have very different memories of how DA 2 marketing went down...

Devils-DIVISION
Devils-DIVISION

@musalala

If this was CGI and a trailer, your point would be valid. But since this is straight up solid gameplay, how has this got anything to do with promises and hype? What you're seeing is what you'll get (even though this is still in Alpha).

direw0lf64

@engulfedobject

You do realize that you can pick between two different voice actors per gender for your Inquisitor right? So if you don't like that one you had another voice option for the female.

@hell_razr I'm afraid the story won't be completed, Bioware stated that more Dragon Age will be coming.

@ADomenick91092 @MasterSatsujin Dragon Age 2 was very epic. It made me love the DA series.

RetryAgain
RetryAgain

@Stiler @RetryAgain I can agree to disagree with you. I liked the silent protag, as it allowed me to play me, or whatever character I wanted. Voices don't allow that kind of role-play.

Total_mischief
Total_mischief

@MasterSatsujin I just couldn't get enough of revisiting the same, delightfully designed areas throughout the entire game! OMG the Wounded Coast, amirite ? Or how the streets of Kirkwall has a slew of random thugs and that the Chantry at night time is a perfect place for random killing. The best part was definitely the crafting, it was so deep. 10/10
