Donkey Kong Country goes ape on Wii VC

Nintendo didn't let Christmas keep it from releasing new games for the Wii's Virtual Console service every Monday, so it's no surprise the publisher had a slate of titles ready for release on Presidents' Day. While some Americans took Monday off in honor of past leaders, they had four new releases waiting for them on the Wii Shop Channel.

The four new titles each came from a different console originally, but they all share an action bent. Rare's 3D-rendered Super Nintendo game Donkey Kong Country and Sega's beat-'em-up Streets of Rage for the Genesis arrived as the week's heavy hitters, each costing 800 Wii Points ($8). They are backed by a pair of lesser-known offerings, Taito's The Legend of Kage for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Hudson's "get busy eating or get busy dying" platformer New Adventure Island for the TurboGrafx-16. The Legend of Kage can be told for 500 Wii Points ($5), while a trip to the island will cost gamers 600 Wii Points ($6).

Each of the games is rated E for Everyone, except for Streets of Rage, which is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older.
