The upcoming beta for Destiny will be available first on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, Bungie COO Pete Parsons said tonight during a special PlayStation 4 pre-launch event in New York City.

The beta will begin in early 2014 for those who preordered the game or were able to secure a beta code from Bungie through one of its various giveaways.

No specific launch date for the Destiny beta has been announced. In addition, no mention was made concerning how long Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers will need to wait to play the beta.

Tonight's PS4 pre-launch event also brought news of a new Uncharted game for PS4, first details The Last of Us single-player DLC Left Behind, a launch date for Infamous: Second Son, and details on a PlayStation-exclusive mission for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes that lets gamers play as a classic version of Snake.
