Dementium afflicts factory

Gamecock and Renegade Kid's spooked-out DS shooter set to ship on October 31.

In August, Gamecock Media Group firmed up plans to hatch its first two projects--Auran's Fury and Renegade Kid's Dementium: The Ward--on October 9 and 31, respectively. Counting its chickens a bit too soon, Auran last week revealed that its massively multiplayer online game had slipped a week to October 16. However, with October 31 being a bit of a loaded date, Renegade Kid's horror-themed shooter isn't exactly afforded the same luxury.

Nothing says spooky like a run-down hospital ward.

Luckily, Gamecock announced today that Dementium: The Ward has gone gold and is on track to fly the coop on October 31 for the Nintendo DS. The maiden effort from Renegade Kid, Dementium is a survival horror first-person shooter in which players must escape from a degenerate medical facility while solving puzzles and shooting up abominations along the way.

Dementium: The Ward is rated M for Mature and will retail for $29.99. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

OMG could this game possibly be as good as it looks? I love my DS but the derth of mature content can be a little offputting, with this silent hillesque game I am hoping it might just turn around

I think I'll wait for the review before I pick it up ...

I try not to hype up games that are trying something very different(yeah I know, this looks like a lame Hollywood movie, but I'm talking more about the DS controls/capabilities) but I can't help but hope this turns out good. It's something like this that I've been waiting for for way too long.

I bought a DS just so I could play the new pokemon game when it came out and now it sits and collects dust. Nice to see a game that is worth bringing it back out for. Should keep me amused at least until Silent Hill comes out for the PSP. Need more horror titles for EVERY system

I hope this game is darn good and sells well - the more titles like this, the better. Especially on DS. Zelda is a fantastic game - Sonic rush adventure, fantastic game. But I refuse to believe that touch the dead is the only mature title... REFUSE i tell you! Resident Evil DS - thats great, but I am a RE fan - you have no idea how many times I have played through that. This game wreaks silent hill (good thing!) and it probably will sell MORE than the silent hill PSP game because of the larger DS userbase. So I hope this game will create a thirst for more mature stuff!

I have high hopes for Dementium. No one has really tried something like this on the DS (closest thing being Touch the Dead but the gameplay is completely different). It definately has potential so here's hoping to a success.

Looks interesting. I'll wait for the review before I pick it up ... course it could be fun to play on Halloween night. Course I could just whip out Doom 3 or Condemned for a little scare.

yay, while I haven't been too much a shopper of DS games since I got one, I'm looking forward to this title, and I also picked up the new Zelda game, which I'm looking forward to trying soon :D I hope GameCock proves itself as a great publisher

Not many M rated games on the DS. I wonder how this will sell. @ DJ_Lae: These 2 games do sound like bad Hollywood movies. ;)

It would be cool if this developer would start working on games for the wii too.

I really want to play this game, but I don't have my DS anymore.... Looks good, though.

Cool Condemned for the DS.

An M rated DS game? Ain't many of them. Resident Evil and Touch the Dead are the only ones I can think of...Regardless, I'm not too sure about this one. Hospital setting is cool and all, that could work for some really good level design, but I think I'll wait for the review.

Dementium: The Ward sounds like any number of bad Hollywood movie titles from the past few years. Still, something like that on the DS is a nice change from the usual, whether it ends up being good or not.

Hey, I think this game seems interesting. And there aren't many M-rated games on the DS.
