Dell has today announced the Dimension XPS line of high-performance desktop PCs specifically designed for gaming enthusiasts. Dell says the XPS is its most expandable and powerful consumer system to date, and the systems do have features not commonly found in Dell's mainstream PCs: an optional RAID drive array for extra hard drive performance; a sleek new case with lots of expansion bays, USB 2.0 ports, and 1394 ports; and a 460W power supply to keep power-hungry 3D cards humming along.

The initial XPS configuration will come standard with a 3GHz Pentium 4 with an 800MHz front-side bus, DDR400 memory, Creative Audigy 2, and either an ATI Radeon 9800 or Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB graphics card.
