DC's superhero schedule stretches several years ahead, with a Cyborg movie currently listed for a 2020 release. While this date could easily change, Cyborg's place in the DC universe has been strengthened with the news that he is to appear in The Flash.

The news comes via Variety, which suggests that a role in The Flash in 2018, together with next year's Justice League, will boost audience interest in a character who isn't as well known as his fellow DC heroes.

The character is played by Ray Fisher, who appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year. Cyborg--aka Victor Stone--first appeared in 1980, originally as part of the Teen Titans. In 2011, the rebooted DC comic book continuity made him a founding member of the Justice League.

A Warner spokesman declined to comment on Variety's story.

The Flash stars Ezra Miller as fast-footed Barry Allen, who featured in the recent teaser for Justice League that premiered at San Diego Comic-Con.

In May, director Seth Grahame-Smith left The Flash over "creative differences." He has since been replaced by Rick Famuyiwa, who previously helmed the acclaimed indie comedy Dope. This was first reported by BMD and is now confirmed further by Variety.

Cyborg is currently set to be released on April 5, 2020, while The Flash is scheduled for March 16, 2018.
