Update: Harmonix tells GameSpot that DLC songs will be available as individual downloads for $1.99.
Original Story: The upcoming download-only Xbox One Kinect game Dance Central Spotlight will cost $10 and include ten songs when it's released on September 2.
That's decidedly cheaper and less content-heavy than past Dance Central games, but you won't be restricted to just those ten songs. Instead, you'll be able to have a more customized experience by picking the music you like, as Harmonix plans to offer more than 50 additional songs as downloadable content. The first five DLC songs, along with the full "core soundtrack" were confirmed today and follow below:
Dance Central Spotlight core soundtrack:
- Avicii -- "Wake Me Up"
- Cher Lloyd -- "I Wish"
- David Guetta ft. Sia -- "Titanium"
- Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz -- "Talk Dirty"
- Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown -- "Show Me"
- Lorde -- "Royals"
- OneRepublic -- "Counting Stars"
- Pharrell Williams -- "Happy"
- Rihanna -- "Diamonds"
- will.i.am ft. Justin Bieber -- "#thatPOWER"
DLC songs:
- The B-52's -- "Love Shack"
- Capital Cities -- "Safe and Sound"
- Emeli Sandé -- "Next To Me"
- Icona Pop ft. Charli XCX -- "I Love It"
- Lana Del Rey -- "Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)"
Pricing details and exact availability for the DLC songs--we don't know if they will be sold in bundles, individually, or both--were not announced, but we've followed up with Harmonix to find out more. DLC songs for the Xbox 360 Dance Central games will be re-released on Xbox One over time, and will be available as free downloads in Spotlight for those who purchased them on 360.
San Diego Comic-Con attendees later this week will have the opportunity to try out Spotlight for themselves, as Harmonix will be allowing the public to play it for the first time at the event. If you're interested in trying it for yourself, you'll want to head to to the Xbox Lounge being hosted at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
I'd have personally preferred to see Weird Al's parody of "Happy," the recently released "Tacky," than the actual Pharrell song, but I've got my fingers crossed that it (and the rest of Weird Al's new album, Mandatory Fun) could eventually be released as DLC. What do you make of the $10 price and the confirmed songs? Let us know in the comments below.
