Crackdown will return with the "right team and time," Microsoft says

Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer says franchise is "important" and one he would like to see return.

The Crackdown series is "important" to Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer and one that he would like to see return someday.

"Crackdown is important to me," Spencer said on Twitter. "Given right team and time it's a franchise I'd like to see return…"

The Crackdown series has been dormant since 2010's Crackdown 2, and the franchise was nowhere to be seen during Microsoft's E3 briefing last week.

The first one is great but the second used basically the same game world. I hate when these developers use the same game world. They need to make it like the first one with a new world, that's all they need to do.

prolly just me, but the "Xbox Done" phrase is already getting old.

Crackdown was amazing. Crackdown 2 was not amazing, but still kinda fun. If they're going to revisit this one, I hope they lean more towards the first game. Different Agents, building over time. The Morphing car mechanic. Weakening a boss over time by killing his lieutenants, these are the things I enjoyed in Crackdown and missed in Crackdown 2.

Crackdown = fun!!! One of the few games I'd never sell, loved them both.

Love Crackdown, pretty much embraces everything I enjoy about games, shooting, jumping, climbing, driving fast, smashing freaks, jumping off buildings and gliding... Collecting orbs... Who could hate that???

The first game wasn't bad, but the second game looked like it strayed too far from the first game for me to have any interest.

If they do this game right I would buy a brick, *cough* I mean Xbox DONE.

I never played te Crackdown games. I did see it in a store for $3 so I might have to pick it up.

I didn't care for the sequel, but the first was a blast with a friend.

I didn't like either game so they can keep this on ice for all I care.

I'd like to see a new better game of Crackdown as well. I really liked the first one. The 2nd game wasn't too great though. I also want a new Conker and MechAssault game. I thought M$ would show at least one of these games, but nothing.

I played the first Crackdown like it was crack. All the DLC was great too and added longevity. The second Crackdown however did not nearly captivate me as well as the first game did. It seemed like they removed all the good shit and the city itself was lacking that charm the first game had (and it was the same city!).

While me and my buddies had a good time gliding around the city, the glide-suit was truly the only good thing they added. I'm just glad I got it for free as a download as that would have been $65 I would have wasted.

Did anyone else miss scoping in using a sniper?

Crackdown 1 was so awesome i loved that game very fond memories so much fun, crackdown 2 while good lost something the jet boots i got talk out the need to level up agility to reach high places and the cars didn't level up and morph with your driving agility...one of my favourite parts, i can still remember the first time i levelled up in the agency supercar and i morphed into a batmobile like car complete with heavy machine guns....priceless.

I actually had a blast with Crackdown 2 and wouldn't mind seeing the series return. Of course, I never played the first game. So, Crackdown 2 was for me like a totally new experience rather than a glorified expansion pack people got suckered into paying full price for.

A New Crackdown and Viva Pinata 3 would be great. Would also be great if L4D3 was in development also.

Wasn't that the free game that came with the $60 Halo 3 beta?

What is the point and purpose of Crackdown. I mean I really liked the original game but the sequel showed how little they have to add to that. After a brief trial with the demo I had no interest in buying it. What would they add with a 3rd game?

But considering that it's good they're taking their time and not rushing anything. There are too many sequels for the sake of being sequels anyway.

I forsee this game taking on MMO characteristics similar to Destiny/Defiance. I can see them leaving the original city and opting for a much larger world to traverse with large numbers of people close to your level/skill range syncing up so that your missions/freeroam carnage can be persistent.

I'd personally be okay with this. I'd love to be in the middle of a fight getting my ass kicked when all of a sudden 2 or 3 guys show up out of nowhere and we team up to obliterate the scourge. I don't believe EVERY game should start getting sandbox worlds and MMO characteristics, but Crackdown is a series already built for something like that. It's a better idea than The Elder Scrolls Online is anyway (That game shouldn't even exist. Just give us a true Elder Scrolls entry and give us co-op. That's the furthest that series should be taken.)

Too Bad this game wont see light of day since Microsoft lost there fans over Xbox one   Maybe Ps4 or Pc game ?.

@IceJester45

Dude I highly recommend you buy the first one. Trust me you will have a much better time. Heh actually I kind of envy you. You get to experience it kind of in the proper order where everything is rather tame in the second one everything is nuts in the first one.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum

Well here's the thing. They didn't do the sequel right. a sequel is supposed to build upon the foundation laid out in the first game, instead it drew back from that and put less in than what was in the first game.

So is still room for this to grow...though seeing how it is a X-Keanu exclusive I just know it will be warped into some money hungry abomination *looks over at Killer Instinct*

nickpeck36
nickpeck36

@DarkReign2552 Yup, I agree with you.  The first game was a lot of fun but never played the 2nd one.  I'm all for more games so it's nice to see that it is in people minds and may happen at one point.  I'd always rather wait then have a game rushed out and suck.

However, as I get older I grow more impatient lol.  Oh well.

@pszone Sure bud, keep thinking that. You'll be surprised how many people just get consoles for *gasp* games. Brand loyalty is insanity. These companies are all the same.

nickpeck36
nickpeck36

@pszone Yah, considering MS owns the game, they will skip their own system and make it for the ps4.  Damn you are a smart one.

rem234

@Cl0ud When people talk exclusives they are usually talking about console exclusivity.

Microsoft often allows or publishes games onto the PC platform which they do own a substantial market on. (that little thing called windows).

ArabrockermanX
ArabrockermanX

@Cl0ud Well by the time you get done paying $500 USD for a console plus the online fees you might as well save some money and buy a PC and it won't cost $1000 to match the XB1... It doesn't have high end specs.

biggamer194
biggamer194

@Cl0ud It's not an Xbox exclusive. It however is a Microsoft brand exclusive. PC is a separate platform and it's coming to PC, therefore it's not Xbox exclusive.

nickpeck36
nickpeck36

@Cl0ud Want to know the best part??  How people say f MS and the XBO and that they will get it on the PC.. guess who's OS they are using for said games?  Oh the irony.

MXVIII
MXVIII

@Cl0ud  The PC is still a platform, so yeah its not exclusive to the Xbox platform. Nobody cares how poor you are. Playstation 3 was 600 dollars, and was still considered a different platform with its own exclusives.

Acekidder

@Deadly_Nemesis Dude everyone who has played killer instinct have said its awesome and so much fun why would you complain about  getting a starter pack for free you can but the full game at a set price or if you just like a couple of characters you can purchase just the ones you want its awesome.

Acekidder
Acekidder

@nickpeck36 @Cl0ud They are liars anyway seriously 90% of console owners do not own a pc capable of running a game like titan fall nor would they choose to play on a monitor with mouse and keyboard.

robertcain
robertcain

@snova9308 @Cl0ud Titanfall is on PC and Xbox One, PC has no restrictions or secret schemes whilst Xbox One does. Tell me, which version do you think everyone will buy?

Deadly_Nemesis
Deadly_Nemesis

@Acekidder

No, that's not awesome and should never be a business model for a fighting game. And that game in no way resembles Killer Instinct, in art style or in the sighting system. The characters move as stiffly as those in street fighter and heck it even looks like they are barrowing the art along with it.

I would love to have a chat with some of these people and ask them just what they liked about it and why.

Acekidder
Acekidder

@robertcain @snova9308 @Cl0ud Pc is the king and home of drm you really have no clue....and most console gamers prefer consoles and do not buy pc's to run games.

nickpeck36
nickpeck36

@robertcain @snova9308 @Cl0ud So steam, origin and other digital download sites don't check in... ever?  Are you so sure about that?  I wouldn't' be if I were you.
