Constantine blazes to retail

Constantine, the supernatural action game based on the upcoming film of the same name, is now available in North American stores for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Both were adapted from Hellblazer, Alan Moore's long-running DC comic about a cheeky paranormal sleuth with magical powers. The game is rated "M" for Mature and carries an MSRP of $39.99 for both versions. A PC version of the game is due in March.

Rights to publish the game were awarded to UK-based SCi Games, which then inked a deal with THQ and Warner Bros. Interactive to release it in America. Constantine was developed by Bits Studios in London and features the likenesses of the film's stars, Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz, as well as others from the cinema version. In the game, players assume the role of John Constantine (Reeves), who is drawn into a series of supernatural events in Los Angeles after a skeptical cop, Angela Dodson (Weisz), asks him to uncover why her sister committed suicide. Ultimately, Constantine's goal is to put a lid on the evil swarming LA by defeating the demonic Mammon.

"The game allows movie and video game fans alike to take control of the action and experience each terrifying moment firsthand," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for THQ. "The dark and intense feel of the Constantine film provides a perfect backdrop for the action-packed game."
