Check out some Zelda Hyrule Warriors Wii U screenshots

New images released for upcoming Wii U Zelda/Dynasty Warriors mashup game; Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja revealed as co-developer.

by

New screenshots for hack and slash Zelda Wii U game Hyrule Warriors have been released, showing off what it looks like when the worlds of Nintendo's Legend of Zelda franchise and Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warriors series come together.

Announced in December during a Nintendo Direct video presentation, Hyrule Warriors is scheduled to launch in 2014. Importantly, Hyrule Warriors is not the previously announced new Zelda game for Wii U led by series producer Eiji Aonuma.

Hyrule Warriors--developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja--launches August 14 in Japan, but there's no word on if it's coming to Western markets like North America or Europe. In the game, Link will take on an array of monsters using weapons including a sword, bombs, and his signature spin attack.

You can see a full gallery of Hyrule Warriors screenshots at the game's website.

They LOVE crossovers in Japan.  We don't get to see too much of that here.

So will this game be in the other Zelda's canon? Because if Impa is there, this is the Ocarina of Time link as an adult fighting.
But that Link never grew up because he went in the Lost Woods (leads to Majora's Mask) never to return (he becomes the Hero's Shade in Twilight Princess)

Anyone following me?

I may now be getting a Wii U. Also  I skipped straight to the screens and wondered why tits, but then I saw Team Ninja. Dynasty Warriors is a bad game but if Team Ninja is involved, even without Itagaki, I have some faith.

Anyone else notice that the guy in red is wearing Volvagia as armor? No? Alright.

I want to see how this turns out. I've only really played Samurai Warriors for the first Xbox so I don't really know how much similar it'll be the DW series. People say that each DW release are more or less carbon copies of each other but ehhh I want to see it for myself first for this game.

Anyway who is that short white haired dark skinned much cleavage chick? I haven't played any of the Wii LoZ games if she's in one of those so I'm not familiar with her and she really reminds me of the raid boss Iset from Vindictus/Mabinogi Heroes although Iset's outfit was much more provocative. I'm surprised that they would show that much skin on a LoZ game.

This game seems to have at least a couple of very interesting... ideas...

Looks good so far, makes me excited to see more of this.

I am loving the way Impa looks. I'm really surprised we couldn't figure out that was her in the teaser trailer fighting with the huge sword. Her hair was slightly visible, but I guess it wasn't enough for us to guess it right lol.

I am looking forward to seeing more from this game. With the right characters, I can guarantee that I'd buy this game.

I guess a lot of people are not familiar with the anime style ("Link looks like a girl"). Zelda was never realistic. It's never going to be like the TES games ever.

Seriously, a lot of people tend to forget Zelda is a japanese franchise.

I wonder it's still Zelda game?...

Comments section are the bane of news articles, half of it is filled with morons who complain just to complain and then there are those who complain the game isn't being made how they want a game. Go figure, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Then you'd have the  oh wow Nintendo reusing their IP and no new IP's. Cesspool of stupidity.

This might be a way for Nintendo to actually try to break free of their usual type of Zelda game, if they see another developer take their IP and make something memorable and entertaining. This is not replacing the Zelda already being designed for the Wii U, this is a collaborative effort between Nintendo and KoeiTecmo and while they're at it they are actually adding characters to the canon of Zelda. If you have no interest that's fine but if you're just around to pout and shout because your life isn't very fun then I can't do anything for ya pal, sucks to be you.

I like Dynasty Warriors, just decimated Empires 8 couple months back. If they do this right they could build a massive world that reaches beyond the usual Hyrule, temple of time and Ganondorfs castle triple threat of Zelda. I'd love the idea if the triforces switched individuals and Zelda was the power character/villain and Ganondorf was the hero and was saving Link who is now a female or a dude depending on who is writing out the story.  The story of Zelda can be told a myriad of ways, my favorite vision for it is a cyber punk type of story and back drop and no more mime like main characters, loads of dialogue and more epic JRPG story length but still in the action adventure spirit of Zelda. Zelda as the villain would look sick in a cyber punked out future Zelda. No more green tunic for Link, but he can keep that cool blue scarf though and his left handedness.

LOL i got excited for a second until I read it again then looks at the screenshots, man.... what are they thinking? Nintendo don't you understand we want a REAL HD Zelda game not this crap?

How high were these devs when they came up with this idea?

No need to even write that....I can't name one Zelda Game that never came over to the US or Europe.

Well, I'm not sure how this game will turn out, but I do like the character models.  It's like getting an early indication of what to expect from the main games in the series.  Sure, they won't be as great as the latest PS4 or Xbox One games graphically, but it's a huge step up from the Wii.  For somebody who is just now playing through Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, that's a big plus.

The only reason I keep checking the articles for this game is because I can't stand waiting for the real Zelda-U to be shown... C'mon E3!

*Looks at bird lady* Nice. Not sure how I feel about that kind of "stuff" in a Zelda game though, whether it's a spinoff or not. People say the want more, "Mature", Nintendo games so I guess this is a start.

As long a Link doesn't talk, I'm fine.

pikachudude860

Remember the game Pokemon Conquest? Gameplay aside, that's exactly what this is, a spinoff.

It will probably have little to nothing to do with the main Zelda games.

The REAL Zelda game will be annouced later at E3.

That being said, I'm really starting to like the detail in these character models.

based on some of the comments ive read here, i dont think this game is going to appeal to mainstream audiences or traditional zelda fans (however, i like it due to its striking similarities to ninety-nine nights).

@sdinh225 She's the villain for this game; a new character designed either by Koei or Ninja.

@93BlackHawk93 Link pretty much always looked like a girl anyway. He's a Hylian! You can't judge him by human standards!

@tableofjapan  Besides, the game showed up in a western Direct. Which is proof enough that it will come here.

They sure like to put a negative spin on their articles here.

hystavito

@KimCheeWarriorX Well that makes sense since it's a Dynasty Warriors game which generally don't appeal to the mainstream, and it's also not a "real" Zelda game.

@KimCheeWarriorX  They want the fans to play this cheesy game to crave into  the original zelda game style .

@KimCheeWarriorX This would not be the ideal place to gauge interest in this game or any other Nintendo title for that matter.

@marxforever Except that was yeaaaars ago. Nintendo isn't that dumb to not release this to the majority of the market.

KimCheeWarriorX

@suppaphly42 @noncasualgamer  when the wii-u goes down in price to like below $200, then i might consider it. i know thats asking for a lot and it probably wont happen for years, but thats what its gonna take for me to buy one. thats what happens when you release a game system using previous gen graphics hardware so late in its generation.

skateryanboarde
skateryanboarde

@KimCheeWarriorX You'll be waiting a while. I seriously doubt it will go below $200 anytime soon. Hell, I doubt it will dip below $300 anytime soon.

KimCheeWarriorX
KimCheeWarriorX

@suppaphly42 @KimCheeWarriorX @noncasualgamer  im not going out of my way to be a downer here, except for maybe bayonetta 2 and this, very few games have piqued my interest for the wii-u. i really wanna like it because for a previous gen console, its got some nice visuals. im also a bit concerned about its controller seeing as how i have small hands for a guy.
