It's a pirate's life for me-ow.

While cats aren't known as water lovers, that's not stopping Cat Quest 3 from taking on the high seas. Developer The Gentlebros announced today at the Nintendo Indie World Showcase that the third entry in the action-RPG series will launch August 8--International Cats Day.

In addition, Cat Quest 3 is getting a free demo later today on Nintendo Switch. It should give players a taste of what sailing in the Purribean is like for the game. The small slice of the full game will focus on the opening areas of the experience and first encounters with some of the characters. But be on the lookout for Pi-rats, who also occupy the seas in the sequel. The Gentlebros also revealed that preorders will go live today, too.

Cat Quest 3 will be playable as a solo affair or in local co-op with family and friends. In addition to having your own ship for the first time in the series, the game also features a refreshed combat system. For instance, The Gentlebros highlights that there will be "weapon swapping and tighter attack combos."

While the demo will currently be exclusive to Switch, Cat Quest 3 is also coming PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The action-RPG will arrive at the same date on all of these platforms.

There were plenty of other major announcements at the Indie World Showcase for April, on top of Cat Quest 3. The unveilings of Yars Rising and SteamWorld Heist 2 are just a couple of examples.
