Shooter fans yearning for the glory days of Painkiller and Doom need look no further than the upcoming over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm. Just after the first week of Chinese New Year, gamers can get a small taste of what to expect from the minds behind Gears of War and, aptly enough, Painkiller.

The PS3 demo will be out on February 8 on the PSN store. The demo will introduce a small part of Echo mode, where players run through a collapsed building on the deadly world of Stygia and kill anything that stands in their path. Gamers will get a sampling of the score-based killing mechanic and skillshot system that's featured prominently within the game.

Helping them out with their skillshot achievement quest are weapons like the peacemaker carbine, the flail gun, and the screamer. As a bonus, playing through the demo will unlock "platform-specific upgrades" like the crimson leash and stealth armor, which can be used in the full game's Anarchy multiplayer mode.

Currently, the Xbox 360 demo is out, but a PC demo has yet to be announced by EA.

Bulletstorm is slated to come out on February 22 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Xbox 360 owners who buy the Epic Edition of the game will have access to the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta that may be slated to begin in April.
