Brutal Legend coming to PC

Upgraded version of 2009 Double Fine action game coming to Steam with all DLC; preorders get instant access to multiplayer beta.

Double Fine today announced that its 2009 action game Brutal Legend is coming to PC. The game is available to preorder today through Steam at a limited-time rate of $15. An exact launch date was not revealed, though the game will jump up to $20 when it's released in full.

Those who preorder the game today will receive immediate access to the Brutal Legend PC multiplayer beta, as well as two "exclusive" Team Fortress 2 items: Eddie Riggs' hair and his guitar Clementine.

The PC version of Brutal Legend includes previously released downloadable content Tears of the Hextadon and The Hammer of Infinite Fate. In addition, it has been upgraded, complete with "more detailed visuals" and "improved performance." Specifics were not mentioned.

Also available on Steam is the Brutal Legend original music score from Peter McConnell. The score will be offered as a stand-alone download for $8 or as part of the Brutal Legend 2 Soundtrack Edition for an extra $5.

Even though it is a tad late, I still enjoyed the hell out of Brutal Legend and would probably pick this up with the better visuals and DLC packs. Now the only thing we need ported to PC are:

The Darkness(original)

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

Fable II

Dragon's Dogma

Red Dead Redemption

Demon's Souls

...But I'm sure that won't happen

it's became too late, but still it's better than nothing. looking forward to play this one. I hope other great console games comes to pc as well.

When I saw Eddie's face my heart jumped at the possibility of this being a Brutal Legend 2 announcement. Tears of dissapointment now cover my laptop.

I'll probably get this. Never got around to playing it on Xbox 360 or PS3.

I loved this game.  It was fun, and had a killer soundtrack.  I think DF is re-releasing it to see if there is a market for a sequel.  I just hope that if they do, they drop the tower defense stuff and focus on the hack and slash.

I've seen the screenshot on Steam, then I compare with the video review here on GameSpot, the graphic comparison looks pretty significant, about 20% - 25% better, I think I might get it.

I certainly hope my eyes don't lie to me.

Wish it was Red Dead Redemption instead. Wouldn't mind giving it a try though.

ALREADY BOUGHT IT. Saw this on Facebook earlier and got it immediately. I've been hoping they'd port this to PC for years now. :D

I really hope the modding community picks this game up and adds new areas or missions or something. Either way, I just know I want to see more of this world.

A sequel would be awesome.

Not to mention all the halo games that stopped coming out after H2...

@bannermanner Psychonauts was terrible.  Critics that just bandwagon each other praised it and the masses followed.  I defy someone who knows nothing about the game to play it and enjoy it.

@Chui_GamingX God forbid a company thinks out of the box. We need more CoD-like games. Because they're awesome, with awesome characters and awesome stories and awesome, balanced multiplayer.

vaibhavp

@Chui_GamingX game is awesome. Story is written by Tim Schafer with as usual fleshed out characters, and really cool backdrop. Gameplay is also 3 rd person strategy, really fresh and innovative, if thats your type. Its anything but mediocre. For me more of a masterpiece.

@Chui_GamingX OH NO! a game you don't like! While other people enjoyed it!?! Better announce it to the whole world and show how much of a hipster you are. Because hating stuff other people like is soooo cool.

@beyond_17 Just want to point out that Double Fine is responsible for porting the game to PC, they didn't make the game.

IAMTYLERDURDEN
IAMTYLERDURDEN

@beyond_17 If you bought it and played it on console a long time ago, why would you buy it again? This is for pc players who haven't played it yet. The key word here is "updated".

keichimorisato9
keichimorisato9

@GameMaster-LN they tried to but EA said no, activision said they would buy the rights from EA to make the sequel, EA said no. so it's not gonna happen.

I'm no COD fan, but I love when people make it sound like COD games are stealing funding away from non-COD games. Like there are only 2 types of games; COD and non-COD.

Hate on those games all you want, but SOMEONE must be supporing them.

Stabba_The_Kutt
Stabba_The_Kutt

You keep saying that, but do you have a shred of evidence to support it? Its pretty lame to just make sh*t up like that for attention. Cite a reference or STFU.

@IAMTYLERDURDEN

The point is given the choice I would have purchased it on pc, giving the pc late ports just isn't acceptable.

Total_mischief
Total_mischief

@Stabba_The_Kutt Your point ? Never said anything about the money, but since Modern Warfare 2 it's been breeding streamlined, boring games, both in the CoD series and from other developers. Nothing to do with funding but with what caters to the console masses. There's little interest in relevant story telling, character depth or even balanced multiplayer, making shallow, overpriced games.
