Blizzard moves Starcraft release

Game developer says it needs more time "to make it what we want."

After weeks of speculation as to whether or not Starcraft would make an already delayed December release date, Blizzard finally laid its cards on the table.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Blizzard put calls through to the press explaining that like Diablo before it, Starcraft would not be making its year-end debut as scheduled.

"We're not willing to sell it short just for a couple of weeks" is how Blizzard spokesperson Susan Wooley explained the company's decision to officially delay the release of Starcraft until January 1998.

She added "we need more time to make it what we want."

The company will give the press, and gamers, additional details on the game's delay on Wednesday.
