CDV Software has announced Blitzkrieg: Burning Horizon, a new expansion pack for their World War II-themed real time strategy game, Blitzkrieg. Burning Horizon will include an 18-mission campaign centered on the exploits of German General Erwin Rommel. Rommel's most famous battles, such as Tripoli, El Alamein, Sicily, Normandy and the Ardennes are all included in the pack. A variety of mission objectives including airborne raids, assassinations, and evacuations promise to spice up the single player action. The expansion pack will also include eight additional single player missions that feature Japan and the war in the Pacific.

Aside from additional missions, Burning Horizon boasts 50 additional units, including Japanese Zero fighter aircraft, American M5 Stuart light reconnaissance tanks, and new infantry units such as the U.S. Marines and German Afrika Korps. The expansion pack is currently scheduled for release in Q2 2004 in Germany. Release dates for other territories have not yet been determined, but keep an eye on GameSpot for further coverage.
