Ryan Gosling will star in the movie, alongside Harrison Ford, who will reprise his role as Rick Deckard.

Directing the film will be Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) from a script written by original Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (Alien: Covenant, Smallville). Filming is scheduled to begin in July.

Blade Runner was based on Philip K. Dick's 1968 dystopian novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? There is no word yet on what the story will be for the sequel, but The Wrap reports that the film, produced by Scott, will take place "several decades" after the events of the first movie.
