The Wright stuff.

A sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner has been in the works for several years, and it is finally happening. Ryan Gosling and original star Harrison Ford will head up the cast, and it has now been reported that House of Cards star Robin Wright is set to join them.

As reported by Variety, Wright is in "final negotiations" to co-star in the movie, which is to be directed by Sicario's Denis Villeneuve. Ridley Scott, who directed the first film, is producing, with a script from original co-writer Hampton Fancher.

While very few details on the currently untitled Blade Runner sequel are known, Scott has revealed that the film will begin with a scene that was originally intended for the first movie. During a filmmaking Q&A at the AFI Festival last November, the veteran director described a countryside-set sequence that sees the arrival of Ford's character Rick Deckard to a farm cottage and a confrontation with "a big man."

The movie will start shooting this July and is set for a January 12, 2018 release.
