BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea Episode 2 will be up to six hours long, coming late March

Irrational Games announce Burial at Sea Episode 2 release date, while boss Ken Levine reveals that the second chapter will be longer than the first.

The second chunk of the two-part BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea DLC will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 25, developer Irrational Games has announced.

The release date follows a tweet by Irrational Games chief Ken Levine's saying that Burial at Sea Episode 2 would be significantly longer than its predecessor.

Levine said that a completionist player--someone looking to rummage through absolutely everything in BioShock Infinite's take on underwater city Rapture--would take between five and six hours.

That could be enough time to play through Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes three times!

A common complaint from players of Burial at Sea Episode 1 was that it was too short, with many players finishing it off in 90 minutes or less.

"Burial at Sea seems a prime example of the tail wagging the dog, and the result is an adventure with fantastic sights and sounds that don't come together in a meaningful way," said GameSpot's Kevin Van Ord in his 5/10 review of Episode 1. Can Episode 2 bring in a higher score?

Irrational Games recently released a video showcasing the opening of Episode 2, which you can watch below. But be warned: it's riddled with spoilers.

.....episode 1 took me about 5 hours of gameplay.....if u are just going to follow the main objective without exploring the different locations in the game then u will miss out on alot of stuff....

as much as i'd love to play through this dlc for the story,  i just can't tolerate Infinite's gameplay system,  the no longer allowed carryable health kits and eve vials "vigor" thing just ruins the combat completely.  dumbest change ever made to a game series.

I really liked the first episode, and wow, six hours? That's... Well that's actually pretty good!

Something else that is 6 hrs long.......Lonesome Dove. Try watching it in one sitting.

Odd fact: The Great Escape came on 2 vhs tapes and is 3 hrs long but Lonesome Dove was on 1 vhs tape.

Questions to those who played the first, do the burial at sea dlc further tie in Bioshock 1 with Infinite. I just beat Infinite after downloading it on psn, and they kind of hint at the connection in the end but its rather short.

I will just wait until it is all out and I can play at once. These are coming out far too long after playing the original game for me to stay as interested.

I was hoping the second episode would be longer than the first, but wow, this is awesome. 5-6 hours is half the length of BioShock Infinite. Even if you speed through it in 4, that's pretty good for an add-on. I'm very happy and surprised to hear this, and can't wait to fire up BioShock Infinite once more.

I hope this would be better than first one.. and they gives a conclusion to it as well

"take between five and six hours... That could be enough time to play through Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes three times!" Or a modern game once.

Yay! Can never have too much of a good thing! Longer the better, providing that the quality stays consistent throughout.

So it's almost as long as the original game.

Yeah episode 1 was ridiculously short. I enjoyed it, but it only lasted 2 hours and I took my sweet time with it as well. Not much bang for your buck. Looking forward to what episode 2 has to offer.

I'm a little disappointed that the entire Burial at Sea DLC clocks in under 6 hours. When Levin says 6, it's actually like 4, and part one can be beaten in 90 minutes so....yeah disappointed.

Rule of thumb, when a developer says a games length always half it. So, it will be 3 hours long.

In the case of COD, half it and then take off another hour and a half for good measure.

Over three times the length...That's the difference between American and Japanese men.

It's not the length that counts... it's how you use it.

Haven't even gotten through the first episode yet. Not because of the length, but because the difficulty makes it such a pain in the ass to enjoy.

Hopefully this won't have the same balancing issues.

i like the fact that this dlc is more of a game then metal gear solid by 3 times as much.

@RIIIIKU  I obsess over every detail in Bioshock. I did everything...went everywhere...and finished the DLC in about 2 hours and 35 minutes. It was the epitome of disappointing after spending about 20 hours going through the campaign.. I was hoping for it being simliar to Minervas den which was a fair length for the price. Sadly I doubt part 2 will actually be 6 hours but it should be after the mess that was one. It feels as if just when youve gotten used to playing again its all over.....and at the very least do we get some story incite? Nope...just creates MORE questions and answers none. Im a Bioshock fanboy and have NOTHING good to say about ep1...not one thing. Sander Cohen..well thats one thing.

I think "fair"....not even GOOD but fair....would have required Part 1 to be %100 longer...2x as long in every sense.

@deadpen  Dunno what version you watched, but when I was a kid we had Lonesome Dove on VHS and there were 4 tapes that made up that series.

@divinejester  Oh, and I don't know how much you'd like the connections. It really depends on what you hope for I guess. What are you expecting or hoping for? I think if you really take your time on the game, it could last nearly two hours, and I'd say try not to worry about the time it takes and just immerse yourself in the world, because it is fantastic.

@divinejester

Yes, though it only adds to the connection (aside from Elizabeth and Booker), between Suchong and Fink, which is pretty interesting. I'm not sure how many of the Voxophones you got in Infinite, but that's all that was hinted in there, and how Fink stole his stuff from Suchong, while in Burial At Sea, without going into extreme detail, it outright says it. It also, through the PA system they having going on at Rapture, where you would in the original hear either a man and woman talk, Andrew Ryan speeches, and Rapture reminders, there's a new one in there where its a man and woman talking about strange things floating and telling people not to mind since strange things in Rapture are the norm, which are the tears. Burial At Sea, due to me loving Rapture and it's characters in it, made me even love Infinite slightly more because of those connections. Hopefully you didn't see this as too much of a spoiler. Anyways, Burial At Sea's great.

@PlatinumPaladin

You should buy the Season Pass, it's worth it, and comes with both, reducing the price, with extras.

PlatinumPaladin

@jsmoke03  You're making the same mistake I did. Ground Zeroes two hour length refers to the main campaign, while Burial's six hour refers to everything available. At this point it's hard to say for certain if game lengths are truly the same.

NTM23
NTM23

@Hurvl  Well, no and yes. The only games that really pertains to are modern shooters, like Call of Duty or Battlefield campaigns, otherwise they're eight to twelve, perhaps longer.

Xx_DemonSoul_xX

@themc_7 Understandable. I think we all just want a full return to rapture.. maybe on PC and next gen.

@vader501st  Are you saying it's hard, or too easy? Either one makes no sense.

majere613
majere613

@vader501st I might be wide of the mark here, but did you know that the weapon wheel was back in Burial At Sea? I had terrible ammo problems because I didn't realize it wasn't letting me pick up guns because I already had them. Derp, I know.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@NTM23 @HurvlWell, I should hope so, but I wouldn't know, because I only play old games (trying to decrease my backlog) and I always take my time playing through a game. When someone says a game is 12 hours I usually multiply that with 1,5 or 2 to get how long it would take me to go through it.
