Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a busy man--earlier this month we had an update on his adaptation of classic video game Rampage, and a sequel to 2015's disaster movie smash San Andreas has also been announced. But before Johnson gets to the those projects, he is starring in a reboot of hit '90s TV show Baywatch. It has been revealed that Johnson will be playing the same role that David Hasselhoff played on the original series.

Johnson posted a series images to Instagram that confirmed that his character would indeed be called Mitch Buccanan. The pictures also showed some of the other cast members, including Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Ilfenesh Hadera.

Baywatch is being directed by Horrible Bosses' Seth Gordon, and is set for a May 19, 2017 release.

Last year, Efron spoke about what audiences could expect from this modern retelling of the iconic lifeguard drama. "We're going to make it badass, but we still want to pay homage to the original show," he told MTV. "It's really a careful combination. It's going to be badass, for sure. We're going to beat up some dudes, and swim a lot."

The original Baywatch ran from 1989 to 1999, with a subsequent show, Baywatch Hawaii, airing until 2001. It was a huge international hit, and had clocked up a total of 242 episodes by the time it was cancelled.
